The prep hikes more than prepared me for the hike that we took. The testing of the food and bars and what not was a good idea. Pack inspection was helpful as always, and made sure that troop equiptment was distributed evenly.
They were great... although half of them got altitude sickness on the hike. Fishing was fun with Heber. :)
I am willing to carry a bear canister. Everything else that we had worked well; except the one shelter that has a wripped grommit.
We need more cheesecake... :) Actually there was enough. The peanut butter and apples, as well as the gorp were good ideas for lunch. I liked the way the gorp was mixed. Dinners were good, especially the spagetti and the chili. No more Mexican Bean tostada though. :P yuck! Breakfasts were good... we didn't get to try the granola though, so I don't know how tasty that would be.
good, but twice as long as the actual hike... That's ok, I needed to get into shape.
Would that be Karen? She did a great job in keeping the journal and with scout's own.
It was easier to cook as a group but sleep in patrols. The shelters didn't fit five too well, but as seperate units it was much easier.
good, good, good. I would have hated to have forgotten my thermals.
It was fun.
The back seat of Matt's truck isn't the most comfortable, but everything went well.
I had a few favorite parts of the hike... I liked climbing up that mountain thing when leaving Duck Lakes. I also liked the stars. The snow and hail and sleet and lightning and thunder was cool too except for when we needed to cook dinner. I also liked walking the fish. :)
