EVALUATION SUBMITTED BY SPL SUZANNE

Goals

Yes. My goal was to complete 50 miles and learn more about self- reliance and leadership. How is the troop planning to use the experiences gained in future plans and outings? By teaching others about self - reliance and the beauty of the wilderness.

Highlights:

Cross country/off trial hike - we applies skills we learned about navigation and map reading. The beautiful sights from the top of the mountains - we learned to appreciate nature and know how important it is to preserve it. Learning the different constellations - it was amazing how clear the night sky was in the Sierras.

Major tasks carried out by the adults.

They supervised but let the girls complete the needed tasks on their own. During the day they supervised and did the same chores as the girls. They also supplied us with fresh fish to eat - yum!

Changes to improve the trip

I would have liked more girls to participate, otherwise it was outstanding.

Words of wisdom

Take mosquito netting and try all the food you are taking on the trip before you go. Also a good way to end the trip is to have someone waiting at the end with fresh food and cold drinks!
