        PROFILE

        I gained my engineering degree in civil engineer in 1996. I worked for Civil Engineering Consultancy firms as well as the Engineering Department of a local municipality in roles such as Design Engineer and Site Engineer.  My responsibilities during my 7 years industrial experience includes designing water, stormwater and foul sewer networks, designing reinforced concrete and structural steel structures, doing numerous other engineering tasks. My roles as client and customer liaison have developed excellent communication skills. I am a hardworking and very keen to apply my engineering and AutoCAD skills.

        Water Scheme

        ·        Hydraulically designed the new “Koekedou” water Scheme consisting of 32 km of pipeline, 44 discharge chambers and a maximum flow temp of 340 1/s through the year at maximum 16 Bar working pressure. Computer modelling software used: PIPEN, WADISO 3, SURGE 5.

        ·        Developing the scheme database using computer software for the purpose of the Commission Report.

        ·        Designing and drawing the 44 concrete distribution buildings including: filter, air valves, electromagnetic flow meter and pressure transmitter, automatic flow control valves for winter, summer and drink water flow tempo's, “Bermad” pressure relief valve, telemetry to monitor the valves.

        ·        Designing, drawing and supervising 40 concrete thrust blocks for pipeline with maximum 16 Bar internal pressure.

        ·        Designing and drawing an amount of 346 high-pressure special steel pipe sections.

        ·        Participating in preparing the contract specifications.

        ·        Completing quality control, ad hoc designs and alterations, quantity surveying, liaison between the contractor and project engineer ect.

        ·        Preparing the payment certificates of the 13 contracts above for 16-month duration.

        ·        Acting as main supervising agent of 7 different contracts for the water scheme (R12 million) and 6 contracts for the connection between the new reservoir and the scheme (R3 million).

        ·        Preparing the payment certificates of the 13 contracts above for 16-month duration.

         

        Other

        ·        Participated in the design of a new reservoir with maximum wall hight of +/- 20 meter doing ground surveys and producing computer models using SLOPES, SAFE & SURFMATE.

        ·        Helped with the investigation of the irregular hydraulic behaviour of a major channel irrigation scheme.

        ·        Evaluated the hydrology (using CFP-Channel Flow Profile software and manual calculations) of a new weir and distribution chamber to resolve a ±R1 million payment dispute between 3 farmers.

        ·        Participating in the administration of the allocation of irrigation water (10 mil. m³) between 44 fruit farmers in the Ceres Valley.

        ·        Determined the route of 10 km pipeline, setting out 10 permanent benchmarks with a theodolite.

        ·        Surveyed the 12 Km new pipe route with a theodolite in 50 meter intervals for the purpose of hydraulic design and construction drawings.

        ·        Structural designing of a 460m² steel portal frame structure for a workshop.

        ·        Setting out 7 km of construction levels for the road pavement layers and storm water pipeline.

        ·        Assist site agent in the in the replacement of 4 km of pressure water pipeline.

        ·        Acting as site agent in the replacement of 4 km of pitchfibre sewer pipeline in township - construction by hand.

        ·        Acting as or assisting the site agent doing quality control during construction on the following contracts:

        i.   Reconstruction of 2 km town main road.

        ii.   Pre-stressed concrete bridge spanning 80 meter over Berg River.

        iii.  Repaving +/- 40 km of rural roads and parking areas.

        ·        Designing, drawing and supervising a 9 meter spanning concrete bridge over channel with retaining walls either side.

        ·        Helped with the geometrical design of a new bitumen paved industrial road.

        ·        Worked with theodolite setting out vertical and horizontal curves (7 km).

        ·        Updating drawings with new services and plot boundaries (+/- 300 hours)
