Lion Elucidates Mechanism of Androstenone, Male Body Odor Causative Factor
Tokyo (JCNN) Nov 19 -- On November 17, Japanese cosmetic and toiletries manufacturer Lion announced the findings of its latest research on male body odor. According to the research, androstenone, a kind of volatile steroid found in the underarms, causes body odor and make others, women in particular, feel uncomfortable.
When androstenone mixes with sweat, the body odor tends to be enhanced. Also, the company has confirmed that an extract derived from the apricot kernel can effectively inhibit the generation of androstenone.
----
What this press release does not say is that androstenone is thought of as a human sex phememone and the lack of it is found in castrated males.
