Dominion History

The Dominion is a huge alliance made from millions of cultures, in some ways it is similar to the Federation. The cultures include the Karemma and used to include the Cardassians. The Dominion has a tier system for it's administration. At the base are the Jem'Hadar. They are soldiers ordered to do whatever their leaders please. The Vorta are like managers. They are diplomats and run the Dominion. The leaders of the Dominion are the Founders. So how did these three races come to form one of the biggest known powers? The Founders are a race of shape-shifters that may change shape to a gelatinous form and then become whatever they please. Eons ago they explored the galaxy but wherever they went they found distrust because of their abilities. The 'solids', as the Founders often refer to humanoids, hunted them down. One such founder came to rest in a small forested area. He was hurt but some ape-like creatures saved him. The Founder promised he would one day repay them. When the Dominion was born the creatures became the Vorta. Having been chased so much the Founders came to rest on a planet in the Omarion Nebula. Here they created the Jem'Hadar and formed an Empire. All this was 2,000 years ago, before humanity had even explored their small planet. The Empire was relentless. It was the Founder's way of imposing order upon the 'solids' and stopping themselves being hurt. You either joined the Dominion by choice or the Jem'Hadar would... convince you. Although in self-isolation the Founders were still curious about life offworld their little planet. They coded 100 changeling infants with DNA which would implant a desire to return home. They then set them out throughout the Galaxy. One such infant fell through what would be later known as the Bajoran Wormhole. This infant would eventually become security chief Odo of Deep Space 9. The Bajoran Wormhole was discovered in 2369. Almost immediately the Federation began to explore the Gamma Quadrant. Although first contact with the Dominion was yet to be established the Dominion was aware of the Federation presence and became irritated by Federation 'violation' of their space. During 2370, rumours of a huge Gamma Quadrant alliance began to filter through to the Federation. First the Ferengi Alliance attempted to trade with the Dominion although they found it hard to communicate. Then the Deep Space 9 officers Odo and Lieutenant Dax discovered a holographic village made by a man to resemble his own village which was destroyed by the Dominion. The Dominion made their move at the end of 2370. DS9 Commander, Commander Benjamin Sisko was in the Gamma Quadrant on a planet with his son, Jake Sisko, and DS9 inhabitants Quark and Nog. A Vorta ran through the forest claiming to be running from the Jem'Hadar. At this point the Federation did not know about the Vorta and they assumed she was truthful. However they were captured by the Jem'Hadar following her. A Jem'Hadar vessel came through the wormhole threatening the destruction of all Alpha Quadrant ships or colonies encroaching into their space. This is emphasized by the destruction of several vessels and the colony known as New Bajor. The USS Odyssey commanded by Captain Keogh followed by the runabouts USS Mekong and USS Orinoco went into the Gamma Quadrant in an attempt to find Sisko. The three ships were soon challenged by three Dominion fighters. Not having encountered Dominion vessels in combat before the ships were totally unprepared for battle with them particularly when it was revealed that Dominion weapons went through shielding. As a Galaxy Class ship such as the Odyssey always relies on shields to survive the attack was battering. The Odyssey was taking huge amounts of damage. Sisko and the others were retrieved and the Odyssey and Runabouts began to retreat, unfortunately the Jem'Hadar rammed one of their vessels into the Odyssey's deflector dish. As your local science officer will tell you, the deflector dish is charged with anti-protons, a type III phaser blast to the deflector with shields down will result in the destruction of half a vessel. So you can imagine the damage a ship ramming it while the vessel is charging it for warp speed. The Odyssey was totally obliterated. The Runabout's however escaped with Sisko, the Vorta and the others. However when aboard DS9 it was revealed that the Vorta was a spy. She transported into space. It is unknown where precisely. As Commander Sisko said "If the Dominion comes through the wormhole, the first battle will be fought here [on DS9] and I plan to be ready for them." Over the next 3 months Sisko debriefed Starfleet on the Dominion. He requested additional equipment. Starfleet agreed and work began to update DS9's defensive capabilities. As 2371 proceeded the USS Defiant was attached to DS9 to defend against the Dominion and a new security officer, a Lieutenant Commander Eddington, was attached to deal with... certain security threats. The Defiant was equipped with a cloak under an agreement with the Romulan Star Empire and the Defiant set way to DS9. The first mission the Defiant undertook was to find out who the Founders were and hopefully set up peaceful dialogue. The Defiant proceeded to the Karemman Homeworld. The Karemma, a peaceful race which was a member of the Dominion which traded with the Ferengi told the Defiant's crew all they knew. The Defiant proceeded to Callinon VII where there was a sub-space relay station used by the Karemma to communicate with the main administrative body of the Dominion. While there the Defiant was attacked. Major Kira, DS9's XO and Odo escaped on board on one of the Defiant's shuttles which proceeds to the Omarion nebula where Odo believed he had originated. Odo and Kira landed the shuttle and found the Great Link. Odo watched as a changeling, like himself, emerged from the link and welcomed him home. Odo did not realise the changelings were the Founders and trained to enter the link. Kira found a room which she could not enter. Odo opened it for her and when they went inside they discovered the rest of the Defiant command crew who were being subjected to experiments to see how they would react in an environment where the Dominion was intending to overtake the Alpha Quadrant. The Founders allowed the crew to leave but with a warning- Next time the Dominion would not be so compassionate. Only through Odo were the crew allowed to leave. Only a month after the original discovery of the Founders a lump of scrap from an unknown vessel from the Gamma Quadrant came into the possession of one Quark, a trader upon DS9. In the wreckage he discovered a infant. The infant soon showed itself to be Jem'Hadar and station's personnel gathered a huge amount of information on the species biology. However Odo, who was caring for the Jem'Hadar realised that the child could never live among humans and took him home. A few months later Odo and Kira were travelling back to DS9 from a Bajoran colony when they gave chase to a maquis raider which was attacking a Freighter. They followed it into the badlands and landed on a planet where they attempted to find the inhabitant of the raider. On the planet it appeared Kira became trapped in some rock. After investigation however Odo found several inconsistencies in Kira's stories. 'Kira' revealed herself to the same Founder which had greeted Odo from the great link months before. She wished to find out why Odo would not return to the link when he had gotten home and Odo revealed it was because he loved Kira. Odo and Kira returned to DS9. Odo never told Kira how he felt. Around this time the Dominion discovered an Obsidian Order/Tal Shiar plot to attack the Founders homeworld. Instead of stopping this the Founders placed one of themselves in the leadership of the group. He disguised himself as one Colonel Lovok of the Tal Shiar.  The fleet of 20 Romulan and Cardassian ships attacked the homeworld. When there they were ambushed by a fleet of 150 Jem'Hadar fighters which tore through the agencies' fleet. Colonel Lovok allowed the captured Odo and former Cardassian citizen Elim Garak to escape as they had been captured and brought along with the fleet but he stated that now the Romulans and Cardassians were no longer a threat to the Dominion and that "Now only the Federation and the Klingons pose a threat. And they wont be one for long." At the end of 2371 Commander Sisko was promoted to Captain. At his promotion was Federation Ambassador Krajensky. Krajensky informed Sisko that there a  coup'détat on the Tzenkethi Homeworld, one which could threaten the Federation. The Defiant was immediately mobilised to deal with any threat to the Federation. Unfortunately the crew appeared to lose control of the vessel. It turned out that there was no coup and that Ambassador Krajensky was a founder. He was hoping to start a new war between the Tzenkethi and the Federation. Unfortunately Odo killed the founder resulting in him being the first founder to kill another of its race. Control was regained upon the Founders death. As 2372 swept in the Alpha Quadrant was in serious paranoia over the Dominion. What did 'Colonel Lovok' mean about eliminating the Federation and Klingons? Even more worrying there were factions in the Klingon Empire that believed that they had to protect the Alpha Quadrant against the threat of the Dominion. They believed that the new Cardassian Detapa Council was Dominion controlled. The Klingons attacked Cardassia only stopping off at DS9 first. The Federation opposed this position. As a result the Klingons broke off the Khitomer Accords, withdrew their Ambassadors and expelled Federation citizens from their space. Even worse the Defiant saved the Detapa Council from attack. Just as the Defiant docked at DS9 the Klingon fleet decloaked fighting the newly finished DS9 defences. The Klingons agreed to stop attacking Cardassia when Sisko pointed out this was just what the Founders wanted. Cardassia stood weakened. The Federation-Klingon alliance had been the most potent fighting force in the Alpha Quadrant, now that was gone. DS9 personnel, CMO, Dr. Julian Bashir and Chief of Operations, Chief Petty Officer Miles O'Brien crash landed on a planet full of Jem'Hadar. One of the Jem'Hadar had been trapped there before and found that when the Ketracel White ran out he didn't need it after all. He believed that something on the planet had cured him of his addiction and he had brought his group of Jem'Hadar to the planet to have them too cured. Bashir tried to cure them but eventually he and O'Brien escaped the planet. One and a half months later the Defiant was negotiating with the Karemma over a gas giant. The Karemma had agreed to trade with the Federation via the Ferengi. Unfortunately the Dominion discovered this and both the Defiant and the Karemman vessel were forced into the gas giant's atmosphere. The Karemman vessel was disabled and called non-salvageable after several Jem'Hadar attacks. However the Defiant was able to destroy the two Jem'Hadar vessels despite phasers being down. The threat of the changelings was leading to much paranoia in the Federation. With the Federation's previous enemies, the Romulans, the Borg, the Cardassians, you knew who you were fighting. Here was an enemy which could be one of your friends and you wouldn't even know about it. Some Starfleet officers following Admiral Leyton believed drastic security measures needed to be taken. The recent bombing of the Antwerp conference, apparently by a Changeling, does little to help this. Admiral Leyton began to transfer and promote many officers which he trusted. The evidence led to even more paranoia that the Founders may of infiltrated Earth.  Among the transfers is Captain Sisko who was appointed Head of Starfleet Security on Earth. Sisko worked on security measures to protect Earth with the help of Odo. Soon afterwards there was a planet-wide power failure on Earth. Sisko discovered evidence which suggested Leyton was responsible for all these things. It turned out the power failure was orchestrated by a group of Starfleet cadets. As the evidence grew clearer and Leyton had Sisko thrown in prison under the claim he was a changeling. Sisko finally managed to present this evidence to Federation President Jaresh-Inyo. Leyton revealed that he was attempting a military coup in order to head the government so he could save Earth from the Dominion threat. The paranoia caused by the Dominion was everywhere. The Klingons still claimed that the Cardassians were Dominion controlled. The coup on Earth was future evidence. The Dominion was being successful. Everywhere you looked there were enemies. At least as far as the Alpha Quadrant was concerned. Relations between the Federation and the Klingons were strained in the least. Cardassia was ruined and the Romulans were being typically paranoid. Two centuries ago a Gamma Quadrant species known as the Teplan resisted the Jem'Hadar and refused to join the Dominion. As punishment the Dominion unleashed a disease known as the blight to the people. The plague had swept across the planet slowly killing the entire Teplan civilisation. DS9 personnel finally attempted to cure it months after the coup, although they were unsuccessful Dr. Julian Bashir did create a vaccine to be administered to pregnant women which freed their unborn children of the disease. Dominion operations in the Gamma Quadrant escalated, Dominion scientists discovered an old Iconian gateway. However renegade Jem'Hadar seized control of the gateway and attempted to restore it. In order to do this they attacked DS9 stealing several parts. The Defiant was despatched to deal with the Jem'Hadar and came across another Dominion vessel which was damaged. Discovering that the Jem'Hadar who had attacked them were renegades the Defiant crew and the crew of the Dominion ship teamed up striking the gateway and disabling it permanently. Only a month afterwards the Founders decided that Odo should return to the Great Link to face judgement for having killed a Founder. Odo became ill around this time and the Defiant was forced to return to the Founders Homeworld to attempt to cure him. En route Odo began to believe he was being compelled to return for having killed another changeling. Sure enough at the great link he was found guilty and punished by having his shape-shifting abilities removed. Odo was human essentially, the worst punishment a Founder could truly get. Just before this Chancellor Gowron had declared war against the Federation. In the link Odo got the idea that Gowron was a changeling. When he came out of the link he revealed this information to Sisko. Starfleet planned what to do for the next 3 months as the war with the Klingons continued. Eventually it was decided, Ben Sisko, Odo and DS9 Chief of Operations, Chief Miles O'Brien went to the Klingon base at Ty'Gokor intending to reveal Gowron as a changeling, however eventually it turned out that General Martok was the changeling. And so peace returned to the two nations, however Federation-Klingon relations were still strained. Soon afterwards DS9 personnel were exploring a Gamma Quadrant world when a Dominion Fighter crashed into it. When it was revealed all aboard were dead the personnel began to ready it to be taken back to Starfleet for investigation.  Unfortunately another Dominion vessel appeared, destroying their runabout. A Vorta named Kilana requested a meeting with Sisko. She asked him to relinquish the ship back to Dominion control. Sisko refused, and returned to his ship. Again Kilana requested a meeting saying there was an item aboard she wanted, refusing to tell Sisko what it is Sisko still refuses to relinquish the ship. Back aboard the vessel a changeling began to attack the crew members aboard, unfortunately it is dying and unable to hold it's shape, the changeling is what Kilana wants, Kilana took the corpse of the changeling with her while the Defiant towed the Jem'Hadar vessel into the Alpha Quadrant allowing the Federation to finally get a look inside a Dominion ship. Months later a Dr. Mora Pol arrived on DS9. Pol had cared for Odo during his formative stages, he had heard that Odo had a changeling infant with him which turned out to be true. Odo and Pol cared for the infant, allowing it to grow but eventually the infant died from radiation, during it's last moments the infant linked with Odo and returned his ability to shape-shift. Just a month later the Dominion finally made their move on the Alpha Quadrant. A strange Cardassian signal was detected coming through the wormhole. It turns out that it was from Enabran Tain, ex-Obsidian Order member and exiled Cardassian Garak and DS9 Strategic Operations Officer Lieutenant Commander Worf headed for the signal. Travelling through a nebula to avoid detection the two discovered a huge fleet, obviously built for invasion of the Alpha Quadrant.  The two were captured and taken to a Dominion prison camp where they discover, among others, Dr. Bashir, General Martok and Tain. Worf managed to get out a message to DS9 at the last minute and Sisko started to get ready for an attack. Unfortunately there was no time and they began to get ready for the last resort- closing the wormhole, however something went wrong, the Bashir changeling had modified the beam used to close the wormhole to make sure it could never be closed. The Dominion fleet poured through the wormhole and, the Defiant, the stations three Runabouts and Gul Dukat's Bird of Prey were despatched to defend the station. However the fleet turns towards Cardassia and Dukat makes heads straight for the fleet. Major Kira, commanding the Defiant told Dukat not to be rash, but Dukat said the words which will echo across time "You misunderstand my intentions, Major, I'm not attacking the Dominion fleet, I'm joining it. I've been in top secret negotiations with the Dominion, Cardassia is now part of the Dominion. You and me on the same side, it never seemed right did it?" Soon the Klingon fleet which had been in Cardassia arrived at DS9 in need of repairs. Chancellor Gowron resigned the Khitomer Accords in able to better defend against the Dominion, the Federation-Klingon alliance was re-established. The Klingons and the Federation prepared for the imminent Cardassian-Dominion attack. As they prepared Romulan Warbirds arrived ready to defend the station. As an apparently cloaked Dominion fleet prepared to engage the joint fleet nobody noticed 'Dr. Bashir' steal a runabout. Back in the Gamma Quadrant Worf and Garak had managed to escape the prison camp along with Martok as they came through the wormhole, Sisko realised that 'Dr. Bashir' was in fact a Founder. The Defiant gave chase to the changelings runabout locking it in a tractor beam deflecting it away from the Bajoran sun, the runabout had been loaded with enough explosives to send the star supernova. There had never been a Dominion fleet, it had been a trick, the explosion of the sun was created to destroy the Bajoran solar system, DS9, and damage the Klingon, Federation and as a bonus, Romulan fleets. As Sisko said "Armageddon will have to wait for another day." The Dominion eliminated the maquis. For the next 6 months the Dominion would regularly run reinforcements through the wormhole to Cardassia ever reinforcing Cardassia for the inevitable war between the Dominion and the Federation. The Federation became increasingly annoyed by this and Sisko began to mine the wormhole. The Dominion almost immediately acted, attacking the station. With only the station's defences, the Defiant and General Martok's vessel, the IKS Rotarran to protect them, and with the Defiant still laying mines the battle was over almost as soon as it begun, but the Defiant was able to lay the mines in time and the station was successfully evacuated. Before the battle the Dominion had offered non-aggression pacts to much of the quadrant. Bajor, Tholia and the Romulans all accepted, among others. Just the Federation and Klingons stood against them. The Rotarran and the Defiant headed into a massive fleet, preparing for victory at all costs, but it was not to be. The Dominion had always been the more powerful power, it just needed a base of operations in the Alpha Quadrant from which to launch it's attacks, the Cardassian Union was that base. The combined power of the Dominion and Cardassian forces were overwhelming even without the Dominion reinforcements that were attempting to get through the wormhole, and even with the Federation's new shielding which could hold against phased polaron beams. Fleet after fleet was destroyed, planet after planet taken, the Dominion could not be stopped but the Federation had a plan to at least slow the Dominion. The crew of the USS Defiant were reassigned to the Dominion fighter which had been captured by Sisko and his crew only a year before. The fighter navigated into Dominion territory and even after an attack on the vessel by the USS Centaur it managed to safely reach Cardassian space. From there it headed towards the main Ketracel White distribution facility in Cardassian space. It dumped empty Ketracel White containers upon the station. At least they seemed empty. The containers exploded destroying the facility and destroying a whole lot of white. Severely slowing the Jem'Hadars ability to fight. The crew eventually made it back to Federation space on the Rotarran although the fighter was destroyed in the operation. The crew once again went on a mission which would severely damage the Dominion's ability to fight. The Defiant attacked and destroyed a massive Dominion sensor platform which allowed them to monitor Starfleet activity over 5 sectors. Yet, still the Dominion continued forward, while Starfleet may of been winning on covert operations the Dominion's huge numbers and advanced weaponry meant fleet after fleet still couldn't win against them. Moral in the Federation and Klingon ranks fell. Realising the Federation needed a huge victory Sisko devised a plan to retake DS9. The need for attack became even more urgent when it became apparent that the Dominion had a way to take down the minefield surrounding the wormhole. Even with an incomplete fleet and without the help of the Klingons the Federation fleet was forced to make it's way for DS9. On their way they were stopped by a Dominion fleet which outnumbered them 2-1. Both fleets battled hard and it looked as if DS9 would remain in Dominion hands. Just as all look lost the Klingons arrived breaking through the fleet the USS Defiant managed to escape through the fleet and headed towards DS9 at warp speed. The Defiant got to DS9 just as the station destroyed the minefield. The Defiant entered the wormhole ready to confront the Dominion fleet. The Prophets, displeased at the Emissary wishing to end his life, talked to Sisko, Sisko pleaded with them eventually persuading them to make the reinforcements disappear. The Defiant excited the wormhole. The station personnel tried to fire on it but found their weapons were down. With the information that 500 Federation and Klingon ships were headed towards the station the Dominion evacuated, not only DS9, but all the way into Cardassian space where they prepared for a new offensive against the Federation. The new offensive was devastating with the Federation losing many ships in the continued conflict. But at least the Dominion regrouping had brought them some more time. Indeed the recapture of DS9 was such a victory for the Federation that soon peace talks started on DS9 but it was soon revealed the Dominion was thinking long term. In order to counter their Ketracel White shortage one of the planets they would be given according to the agreement held some of the components of white allowing them to revitalise their Jem'Hadar armies, and some time in the future defeat the Federation. The peace talks were stopped. The Jem'Hadars genetic chemistry was also showing problems. The Dominion started a new version of Jem'Hadar made for battle against Alpha Quadrant races known as 'Alphas' the Alphas had qualities such as improvisation which the so-called 'Gammas' did not have. The 'Alphas' participated in a capture of the Defiant but were fortunately repelled by a Runabout that had been shrunk to minute size. Soon afterwards the Dominion was shocked by accusations from the Romulans that they had destroyed a shuttle containing one of their senators. Due to the accusations the Romulans joined the war and finally the tide turned against the Dominion, with Romulan help the Federation was finally able to get back their systems. The Star Empire was the leverage the alliance needed and finally the Dominion was beginning to feel the strain. One of the first joint missions between the Romulans, Klingons and Federation was the successful capture of the Chin'Toka system, a Cardassian system on the border of Federation space. Despite extraordinary resistance from Cardassian orbital weapon platforms the alliance eventually captured the system, finally gaining a foothold in Cardassian space. As 2375 flew in the Dominion's constant attacks on the Chin'Toka system were failing. The IKS Rotarran was able to destroy a major Dominion shipyard being used to prepare for a new attack on the old Cardassian system. Odo was asked to meet in a secret meeting with someone. To his surprise it was Weyoun, to be exact Weyoun 6. Weyoun 6 asked to defect and Odo agreed and allowed him on Odo's runabout. In a communication with the Cardassians Odo discovered Weyoun 6 was a defective clone and that the Dominion had created a successor in Weyoun 7. Damar and Weyoun 7 promised to destroy Odo's runabout. True to their word a Dominion fighter was soon firing upon them however Weyoun 6 used a weakness against the vessel and it was destroyed. Weyoun 6 revealed that the Founders were dying from a disease which Odo did not have because he had been away from the Great Link so long. The Alliance continued to damage the Dominion forces. A small fleet of 5 Klingon Bird of Preys managed to do severe damage by running behind the lines and destroying several outposts. Continued attacks continued to weaken the Dominion's grasp, and things were not helped by the Dominion, who blamed their 'weak' Cardassian allies. Similarly the brutal siege of AR-558, although decimating to the troop emplacement there the array was continually held onto. As 2375 dragged on the Dominion came to desperate measures in order to win this war. An alliance was made, in secret, with the Breen, a mysterious race of warriors. Indeed so secret was this alliance that even the Cardassians did not know of it until it was final. Objecting to the alliance and finally realising that the Dominion did not see the Cardassians as 'partners' anymore, but had brushed them inside in favour of the Breen, Damar set up a resistance cell. The Alliance finally had a new ally on Cardassia. The Breen finally revealed themselves to the Federation and tore through the Federation fleets, attacking many Federation sites, including Earth, even more terrifying the Breen revealed their ultimate weapon, an energy dampening weapon, at the Chin'Toka system destroying, among other vessels, the Defiant, the Breen successfully retook the system and the tide began to turn against the Federation once again. However there was hope. Firstly the Klingons found a way to make their vessels immune to the energy dampening weapon and arranged a series of high penetration raids against the Dominion and the Cardassian resistance finally began to begin missions. Damar sent a message throughout the Quadrant: "...and so, two years ago, our government signed a treaty with the Dominion. In it, the Dominion promised to extend Cardassia's influence throughout the Alpha Quadrant. In exchange, we pledged ourselves to join the war against the Federation and its allies. Cardassians have never been afraid of war-a fact we've proven time and again over these past two years. Seven million of our brave soldiers have given their lives to fulfil our part of the agreement. And what has the Dominion done in return? Nothing. We've gained no new territories-in fact, our influence throughout the quadrant has diminished. And to make matters worse, we are no longer masters in our own home. Travel anywhere in Cardassia, and what do you find? Jem'Hadar, Vorta--and now Breen. Instead of the invaders, we have become the invaded. Our allies have conquered us without firing a single shot. Well... no longer.... I call upon Cardassians everywhere: Resist. Resist today. Resist tomorrow. Resist until the last Dominion soldier has been driven from our soil!..." The Dominion never took the resistance that seriously but their raids did prove successful especially when they were helped by Colonel Kira Nerys, Odo and Elim Garak, an old Cardassian exile. Around the same time Bashir discovered that Odo had been used as a carrier by Section 31 to infect the link when he had been judged. Eager to cure Odo's disease Bashir worked on bringing a Section 31 operative known as Sloan to the station. Sloan arrived at the station believing that Bashir had cured the disease. Bashir revealed he had not and tried to get it off Sloan, in order to protect the information in his brain Sloan killed himself but Bashir and Chief O'Brien entered Sloan's mind eventually finding the information just before it was lost. He managed to cure the disease but Sisko would not allow them to let the Founders have the cure. Around the same time the resistance made its biggest victory, it captured a Dominion fighter refitted with the Breen energy weapon. It provided the weapon to the Federation which used it to finally protect itself from the weapon. The Romulans also gained protection. Upon hearing this the Dominion withdrew into Cardassian space, cutting it's supply lines, giving it less space to patrol and allowing to protect itself while it built ship upon ship. Damar's resistance cell was heading for Cardassia to meet with a new defector. It was revealed that it was all a trick and Dominion and Breen vessels obliterated his ship. Fortunately Damar, Kira and Garak (Odo was back on DS9 been treated for his disease) beamed down to Cardassia Prime before the vessel was destroyed. Unfortunately the rest of the resistance was dead. Kira urged Damar to rally the Cardassian people up against the Dominion. Damar stood in the middle of the town square and made a glorious speech starting: "Citizens of Cardassia, hear me! The Dominion told you that the rebellion has been crushed! What you have seen here today proves that this is yet another lie!...." The Cardassian people finally were ready to stand against their Dominion oppressors. Around the same time the Alliance decided on a last ditch effort to invade Cardassia. Setting off the fleet battled extraordinarily against the forces of the Dominion. The Cardassian resistance cut all power on Cardassia and so when the fighting began the Dominion could not contact it's troops. In retribution the Dominion levelled Lakarian City on Cardassia Prime killing 2 million citizens. The battle above in space was brutal with attack after attack. The Dominion located Damar and sent Jem'Hadar to kill him and his co-conspirators. Just before they were ready to fire the Cardassian soldiers with them killed them, promising their allegiance to Damar. In space the battle looked lost when the Cardassians turned and fired on their old 'allies' with their new Cardassian allies in hand the alliance tackled the fleet with extraordinary ferocity and the Dominion and it's allies retreated to Cardassia Prime for the last stand. The Female Shapeshifter ordered the execution of the entire Cardassian population as punishment but the alliance fought on. The resistance came to Dominion HQ to fight those inside. They battled inside with their call of "For Cardassia!!!" but unfortunately Damar was lost in the battle. They fought their way to the central chamber killing Weyoun 7 and leaving the Female Shapeshifter captured. However she would not co-operate and just sad and deteriorated from her disease waiting to die. Odo beamed down and linked with her. He gave her his impression of solids and cured her disease. She agreed to stand for war crimes and surrendered. The war was over. But it was at a great cost, the Federation and Romulans were in a bad state, the Klingons were no threat to anyone and Cardassia was a wreck. Odo returned to his people and cured them of their disease. Finally the Dominion is at peace with the Federation. With the impressions of Odo they will finally be a force for good in the Gamma Quadrant. However the fate of the Jem'Hadar and Vorta is a worry. With a peaceful Dominion there is simply no need for them. Their future lies in the balance of this new Dominion.
