OIF

On January 21st, 2003, my company was the first Marine rifle company to arrive in Kuwait.  After the President's warning expired, we crossed the border of Iraq in the town of Safwan.  We then moved to Az Zubyar to seize the Ramallah oil field and to destroy the 32d Mechanized Infantry Brigade.  We consolidated for the night and then pushed towards An Numiniyah and seized a soccer field for a firm base.  We conducted raids on Ba'ath Party officials and tried to set-up a government.  A few days later, we turned the city over to a Marine Reserve company and began to head north again.  After all the operational pauses, we finally attacked into the suburbs of Baghdad and one of Saddam's mansion.  Then we did the final push and attacked to seize the Ministry of Oil Building in Baghdad.  We conducted patrols to stabilize the looting, which was rampant, and then headed to Northern Baghdad to protect the water treatment facility.  That facility supplies water to half the city of Baghdad(East of the Tigris).

After we were relieved by a US Army artillery unit, we headed to Karbala to conduct stabilization operations.  A few days later, I was sent to Kuwait to execute orders to Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
