Eran Dukal was born on Cardassia Prime not long before the Terran Empire invaded and enslaved the Cardassian Union. He spent many years working at various fleetyards within the Terran Empire, until being assigned to the Empire's flagship, the ISS Leviathan. He worked in Engineering for over a year until he discovered a plan to invade a 'mirror' universe. Realising what such an invasion would entail, he started to attempt to contact a Romulan resistance group he'd heard about a few years earlier.

The leader of this group was a Bajorian\Romulan named i-T'Kul t'Rashad, who had formed a renegade Tal Shiar group to fight the Terran Empire. Recruiting from Bajorian refugee's, former Dominion forces and Klingon and Cardassian slaves, she had created an organisation capable of fighting back. When news of this Cardassian and the information he was offering came to her attention, she managed to rescue Dukal and she earned his loyalty. Since then, Dukal has become t'Rashad's 'unofficial' bodyguard.

A year after Dukal was 'rescued' he and t'Rashad attempted to sabotage the inter-dimensional device fitted aboard the ISS Leviathan. Although their attempts were partially successful, both were captured and interrogated by the crew of the ISS Leviathan.

During an attempted escape, both were somehow transported to the USS Leviathan-A, a Starfleet vessel from another universe. The USS Leviathan was attempting to enter an inter-dimensional wormhole in the hope of returning to their own galaxy. During this attempt, the ISS Leviathan was somehow 'pulled' into the USS Leviathan's universe, causing a collision between the two vessel, which caused extensive damage to both vessel.

Since arriving aboard the USS Leviathan, Dukal has been co-operating with Starfleet in an attempt to find the ISS Leviathan. With his superior knowledge of the ISS Leviathan, he has been working with the crew of the USS Leviathan to enhance their vessel in an attempt to seek out and destroy the ISS Leviathan.

Eran Dukal is the mirror of Lieutenant Eran Dukal, the USS Leviathan's Chief of Security. Although they appear to be almost identical, Advisor Dukal has a more 'greyish' skin and appears 'gaunt' having suffered many years of poor nutrition and is some ten kilograms lighter than the Lieutenant.
