24.7.05    -    "Bush Picnic" Display - Pullenvale State School Fete

The “Bush Picnic” display that was organised by Moggill Scout Group was very exciting for all of us who participated in the event.

There were lots of the Cub age children that showed an interest in joining Moggill Scouts and were quite enraptured by our CD slideshow. I am confident that we will have at least a couple of these children join the Group. It was interesting to observe the older children in the 12 – 14 year old age group who were probably very interested in what they saw but thought that it would be “uncool” if they were seen entering our display. The challenge is “How do we present Scouting to those kids?”

The support that was given to me on the day was great. John Weaver who is the Branch Promotions person was very supportive & helpful on the day.

I see this venture as a prologue to greater things in promoting Scouting in the future to our community.

11-13.3.05    -    Scouts Wivenhoe Dam Camp

The scouts recently enjoyed a fantastic weekend at Wivenhoe Dam. Activities included; fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, cooking, eating and of course getting very dirty in the mud. Although fishing wasn't entirely successful the effort of the scouts to try and get stuck in the mud was truly astonishing. This is just one example of the fun that is involved with scouting! Below are several pictures from the weekend.
