The Passion of the Christ is not a new concept, it is simply Christ's Passion for our souls, his sufferings for our sakes, and the power of God unto salvation. The movie has a great depiction of what Jesus went through physically for us, but his sufferings were much deeper than any movie can ever capture on screen. His sufferings were to save a lost people full of sin and devious natures, so that we might know him through his pain and suffering or simply his "Passion". Which is the salvation of our souls by any means necessary, and that ended in his innocent shed blood by his own people.
