My name is Martinus Bram Saryono Susanto. Long name, isn't it?  That's why I've got some trouble with the International Student Office when I arrived in December 28 prior to my study in the Naval Postgraduate School.  Besides, the weather seemed to be not very friendly.  And the US people still talked about their sunny California!  "Where is your sun, Dudes?" I asked them silently.  Even when the sun eventually came out, I still frozen.  As time goes by I found some warmth in the form of friendship.  I met a noble lady from Lithuania.  Her name is Rima Ambrazeviciene.  She became my best friend here.  Her husband is a musician.  That's one advantage...  I don't know how this happened.  Yet, I believe God arranges everything.

I was born in 1972 in a far remote village, Ganjuran, about 25 km south of the city of Yogyakarta, near the Parang Tritis Beach. It is a beautiful village with wide paddy field surrounded by coconut trees and other plantations. I bet most of you never see the real coconut trees.  I have one older brother and one younger sister.  I am married.  I have beautiful wife and pretty daughter.  My wife's name is Tety (Rima said that in Lithuanian language Tety means "Father". Hey, she's a woman, Sist! How come she can be your father?).  And my beloved daughter's name is Priska.  My fellow officers from West Java insist that my daughter's name should be Friska (they can't spell F and P correctly, though. They always interchange those two letters.  Besides. they think that Priska is a Sundanese pronunciation for that name.  They don't know if I got that name from a Saints' Name Encyclopedia.)  You can see their pictures in my pictures gallery.

I joined the air force in 1990 and got my Second Lieutenant rank in 1994. I am Captain now and my position is Maintenance Flight Commander in a helicopter squadron. I have 60 subordinate, officers and enlisted.  We operate and maintain the SA-330 Puma helicopter.  And, up to now, I still wondering, why a thing like that can hover above the ground? Its weight is 7000kg when fully loaded.  What a miracle on earth.....  Hallelujah! Just like a miracle when a flight engineer who only knows about engine, airframe and aerodynamics has to learn economics, psychology, finance, etc...

By the way, life is beautiful, isn't it?  My best friend always says about that when I'm down.  Because she says so, I believe life is very beautiful....
