The Great Divide Motorcycle Trip

Trip Logistics…..to and from and etc.

It is more than 800 miles to Antelope Wells, New Mexico from Dallas.  That is the Mexico border starting point.  From the midpoint in Colorado back to Texas is even farther, and our moto's are more dirt bikes than road bikes, so we decided to trailer.  After failing to interest a wife or friend in driving the car, we were left with the alternative of taking turns shuttling the car each day

to out campsite or motel.  Ride for three days, drive for one.  The upside included big tents, air mattresses, cook stove, fresh food and drinks all carried in the car.  We also had two extra motorcycles on the trailer in case of breakdowns.
You may look down on this as not being the PURIST way to travel.  After meeting the four young bicyclist on their 47th day who were

carrying all their gear on little bicycle one wheel trailers, and hearing about the two motorcyclist who had done the route in only one week, and the Yale professor who had walked the route in 114 days, we quit worrying about our methods.  The riding is what matters, and  IT WAS GREAT!
