Angel’s choice at Christmas- Anne’s first Christmas at Hogwarts
Angel and Hagrid made their way to the pet shop in Hogsmeade, Angel knowing that Annelise had always talked of having an owl. They entered the noisy shop and Angel made her way to the owls, watching each of them. Some tried to impress her with flying tricks, others screeched for attention. One sat quietly on her perch, just watching. Angel looked up at Hagrid, “Do I have enough for this one?” Hagrid spoke a moment to the shopkeeper and then looked at the few coins clutched in Angel’s hands. Hagrid made sure the little girl wasn’t looking and handed the shopkeeper some money, then turned back to Angel, “Sure yeh do, just come an’ talk t’ this man ‘ere an’ ‘e’ll git yeh all fixed up.” Angel lay her coins on the counter, “Is this enough for the quiet one, sir?” He nodded kindly at the little girl and smiled, giving Hagrid a wink as he opened the door to a cage and the owl walked in on her own accord, “Here you go, little missy- be sure to take good care of her, she isn’t as young as the others, but is patient and kind- a very good friend indeed.” Angel nodded, “She’s for my Mum for Christmas- Mum an’ me ‘ll take good care of her!” Hagrid carried the cage out of the shop as Angel bounded out into the street, “Mum’ll be so happy- I am glad that I had enough to get her a really good owl- she was so quiet in there, she reminded me of Mum. I know she’ll like her.” Hagrid grinned at his little friend, “I’m sure she will, Angel, sure she will.”
