Welcome to the second course offered by the ARRL Certification and Continuing Education Program.
Level II - Intermediate Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (EC-002) - Second Edition (2003)
This is the second in a three course series on emergency communications for Amateur Radio operators. Level II is designed to build upon and enhance the skills and knowledge gained from your previous experiences, including the Level I course. The emphasis of Level II is on net control and management, with a few introductory general emcomm management topics
Each lesson is broken down into a Learning Unit. These Learning Units are designed for students to learn in 3 steps:
First -- Read all the information, including the objectives.
Second -- Follow the instructions for all Student Activities. As each of these is completed, send the appropriate information to your mentor via email. Please note that you do not have to wait for your mentor to respond before you proceed to each lesson.
Third -- Answer all the questions, checking your answers as you go.
When the activities and questions are completed, your mentor will check it over. If your mentor has any questions, these will be addressed as quickly as possible.
Your mentor is your instructor and teacher. This person will answer any question you may have. Use their direct email address for all communications. (This email address is found at the top and bottom of your Welcome Letter.) Our goal is for you to understand the material as you proceed.
To determine that you've comprehended and understood the course material, an Assessment consisting of a 25 question multiple-choice examination will be given. With a score of 80% (20 correct) or more, you pass the assessment. Once all course requirements have been completed to the satisfaction of your mentor, a Graduation Letter will be sent to you, pointing you to the short evaluation and your downloadable certificate.
You are now ready to begin the Level II course in Emergency Communications.
Good luck!
