How White Willow Bark Extract Works
The bark of the White Willow tree contains salacin. This is a mild aspirin-like compound that works in much the same way as aspirin to help counteract pain.
Side Effects
No major side effects are known at this time. As a result of the tannins in White Willow some people may develop stomach upsets.
Safety Issues
Due to it's chemical similarity to aspirin, avoid this herb if you have had any allergic reactions to aspirin.
History of White Willow As far back as 500 B.C.ancient Chinese healers began using Willow bark to control pain. Native Americans also discovered the value of the Willow tree for relieving pain from headaches and rheumatism, and reducing fevers.
