Beat CPR Mission Statement
The American Heart Association Emergency
Cardiovascular Care Program(ECC) plays a vital role in achieving
the strategic impact goal of the American Heart Association(AHA)
through it's mission to reduce disability and death cardiac and
respiratory emergencies and stroke by improving the Chain of Survival
in every community.

Chain of Survival
The interlocking links in the Chain of Survival
are interventions that will improve the outcomes for victims of
cardiac and respiratory emergencies and stroke.
Adult Chain of Survival
Each link in the adult chain identifies an
early intervention: Early access (911 or the emergency medical
services[EMS] access number), Early CPR, Early Defibrillation,
Early advanced life support (ALS).
Pediatric Chain of Survival
In the Pediatric Chain of Survival, each link
identifies an action that provides the best hope of survival
following emergencies: prevention of injuries and cardiac arrest,
early CPR, early access to EMS systems prepared for children's
needs, and early and effective pediatric ALS.
