Angel's Landing, Zion Park

I did this trip with my scout troop on the way back from the Grand Canyon. We stopped for a while in Zion and decided to make the most of it. About 80% of the kids were too tired to start, and of those 20% who did, half of them were uncomfortable with the exposure and turned back. There were 3 or 4 of us who made the top. Awesome views in the sweltering (40 degrees +) heat.

This is the only picture I managed to get, and it is near the top. You can see the buses on the road far below. Angel's Landing itself is actually a big monolith stuck in the middle of a valley. You start by walking up a PAVED path until you reach a col a couple km along the path. From here the pavement stops, and you work your way from this col to the summit along ledges and steps which are complete with chains. Nothing in the line of technical difficulties, but make sure you've got a head for heights! back to international page
