How often should I water my lawn?
We recommend a five-day schedule that delivers at least one-half inch of water
on an irrigation day. Most pop-up heads can deliver one-half inch of water in
20-25 minutes, depending on your water pressure. Rotor heads require about 50-60
minutes to deliver one-half inch of water, depending on water pressure and the
coverage area. Try placing several tuna cans in your yard and check the amount
after your system has completed an irrigation cycle to determine the amount of
water delivered, and then use your controller to make adjustments.
What is the best time to water?
We recommend watering in the early morning hours, between 3:00 A.M. and 6:00
A.M. During this time, you will not lose any water to evaporation like you would
in the heat of the day, and winds are likely to be calm, reducing the risk of
over sprays.
My sprinklers water twice on my irrigation day. What is causing this
problem?
You can program multiple start times for many controllers, so you probably have
a second start time programmed for your irrigation day. Check your user manual
for information about setting a start time.
