We made our first visit to Nebraska in July, 2011 during a cross-country trip to Wyoming. We drove all the way across the state before finally camping in the Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area. We hiked there the next morning, despite oppressive heat. That afternoon we made a brief visit to Scottsbluff National Monument.
