The beginning of the school year is scary...for parents too! Is there a library for students to use? Who is the music teacher? Who will be my child's friend? What will my child eat for lunch? And more! Yesterday's morning reading from the apostle Paul gave the students good advice:
My friends, we ask you to be thoughtful of your leaders who work hard and tell you how to live for the Lord. Show them great respect and love because of their work. Try to get along with each other. Always be joyful and never stop praying. Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do. I pray that God, who gives peace, will make you completely holy. And may your spirit, soul and body be kept healthy and faultless until our Lord Jesus Christ returns. The one who chose you can be trusted, and he will do this.
This advice reminds me to trust in God, to thank him for my blessings, especially the blessing of your sons/daughters! What wonderful students inhabit the classrooms at SJBMS! I have seen your child(ren) reaching out to others - showing new students around, inviting new students to eat lunch, consoling those who may be having difficulty and more! Middle school involves many changes...and you may be wondering where your sweet angel has gone. Don't fret! Your child is hiding as he/she locates his/her own place. Be patient. Read one or more of the recommended books from my summer mailing or take a class.
This morning thirty-three students were inducted into SJBMS National Junior Honor Society, followed by a Mass for the middle school students. Congratulations to all the new inductees. Thank you to Mrs. Krcelic for organizing the National Junior Honor Society! Ask your child about the 200 club.
This Thursday is Back-to-School Night. The evening begins at 7:00pm in the auditorium of Juan Diego Catholic High School for all parents followed by an information session in your child's HomeBase. Please plan to attend. In addition to the invaluable information you will receive, you can count one hour toward your Parent Service Program commitment.
Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday!
