Al-Jumu’ah
Prayer at Barts Hospital Islaamic Society
Allaah
-the Lord of the Worlds- says in the Qur’aan, “O
you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salah (prayer) on
Friday (Jumu’ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allaah [Jumu’ah
religious talk (Khutbah) and Salah] and leave off business (and every other
thing). That is better for you if you did but know! Then when the (Jumu’ah)
Salah is ended, you may disperse through the land and seek the Bounty of Allaah
(by working), and remember Allaah much: that you may be successful”.
[Noble Qur’aan 62:9-10] Narrated
Tariq bin Shihab [r]: Allah’s Messenger [s] said, “The
Friday prayer in a congregation is an obligatory duty upon every Muslim, with
the exception of four: a slave, a woman, a boy and an invalid (sick)”.
[Reported by Abu Dawood] Narrated Abu Huraira [r]: Allah’s Messenger [s] said, “He who takes a bath and then comes to Al-Jumu’ah and then prays what was fixed for him (i.e. voluntary prayers before the Khutba), then keeps silent till the imam finishes the Khutba and then prays along with him, his sins (committed) between that time and the next Friday will be forgiven and with an addition of three days more”. [Reported
by Muslim]
Alhamdhu’lillah,
due to the large turnout of Brothers for Salah
al-Jumuah, it is not possible for us to accommodate everyone in the Barts
Hospital Islaamic Prayer Room.
So we have arranged with the Trusts Activities Department to book the
Hospital Gym for the Jumu’ah Salah. The
Salah al-Jumu’ah will be held in the
Gloucester Hall (facing Little Britain).
The Khutba
is expected to
begin at 12:50pm, as soon as the Khatib arrives, insha’Allaah.
When time is altered for the Summer season, the Khutbah will begin at 1:15pm.
All participants are requested to be there on time, insha’Allaah. However,
advance notice will be given if for any circumstances the Salah will not take
place in the hall. If this occurs, than the Salah will take place in the Prayer
Room and in two separate Jama’ah due to necessity, insha’Allaah. Whoever is
able to make alternative arrangements will be requested to do so. Sisters
are welcome to participate.
Jazakum Allaahu kairan.
