The Islaamic prayer room at the Barts Hospital in the City of London, is open to all members of the Muslim community; whether its members of staff working for the Trust, patients, visitors or Muslims working in and around the City. Everyone is welcome to offer Salah and take advantage of the facilities available.

The Barts Hospital Islaamic Prayer Room was initially established for the benefit of the Muslim members of Staff working for the Trust and the Medical Students. But, Alhamdhu’lillaah, it also attracts the above mentioned categories of people. 

May Allaah -the Most High- reward all those who strove to establish the prayer room and succeeded by the grace of Allaah. May Allaah also reward those who are in charge and run the place and those who help and support them. Aameen.

Facilities available at Barts:

·       Prayer Room is located in the basement of Gloucester House. To go into Gloucester House one needs to enter through the Nurses Home. Nurses Home can be entered either through the arch off Little Britain, down the stairs on the left through the tunnel, making way to Gloucester House, or the entrance from the King George 5^th building. Once into the tunnel, you go down the tunnel, you will come to two sets of lifts, on the right through the door is the swimming pool, take the left, through the door go further down, pass the laundry and the prayer room is just on the left.

Note: Sisters section is combined with the Brothers with a wall partition and curtain.

Note: There is only one fixed official Jama’ah time for Zuhr, the rest of the obligatory Salah can be prayed in Jama’ah when more than one person is available at the time. The Jama’ah time for the other obligatory Salah has not been fixed due to the uncertainty of Brothers not being able to attend at the fixed times, due to various circumstances.

·       Library facility available. Sisters who wish to borrow items from the library section are requested to use it when brothers are not in the prayer room.

Reference books available.

Free distributions available.

·       Jumu’ah Salah is held in Gloucester Hall (facing Little Britain) and not in the prayer room, due to the large turnout of brothers on Friday.

Free distribution stall available.

Sales Stall available. Authentic Islaamic books, lecture cassettes and Qur’aan recitations on sale at reasonable price. All proceeds goes to Da’wah.

·       Donations are much appreciated, goes towards the expense of Khathibs and other good cause.
