Street Works in Singapore
Street works in Singapore are controlled by the
Land Transport Authority under the Statutory
provision in the Street Works Act 1995.
The standards are governed by the Code
of Practice for Traffic Control at Work Zone published in 1-Sep-2001.
Contractors working in Singapore streets could
check with Land Transport Authority website to download a copy of the Code free
of charge; or to get a copy of the Code at $50.00 excluding GST. The copy could
be obtained at Land Transport Authority, Road Management Department at Projects
& Engineering Office, 1 Hampshire Road, Block 3 Level 2 counter. (Please
check with the Authority for details and information here may not be updated)
Code of Practice
This Code made extensive references to
developing countries, e.g. MUTCD 2000
of FHWA of USA.
The standards of devices were made reference to
ASTM, and NCHRP Report 350 (Part
A and Part
B) of USA and British
Standards of Britain.

Councils
Contractors working within the ambit of Town
Councils should seek concurrent approval from the respective Town Councils prior
to the commencement of works. The website of the respective town councils are as
