BSA TROOP 180, LANCASTER, KENTUCKY

WELCOME! Thanks for visiting our website.

Information updated 01/17/05:

WOW!!! We have a lot of fun activities coming up!

Remember that our regular weekly meetings are now on Mondays, and they run from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. We'll be exploring "Engineering" for the next few weeks (we'll continue with the Auto Mechanics merit badge when the weather warms up a bit so we can do some more "hands on" learning).

THIS WEEKEND (01/21/05 - 01/23/05) IS THE KLONDIKE DERBY! So far, Nick, Michael, Chris and Cole (and possibly Pat and Jake) have signed up to go. If you are not one of these Scouts and you want to go, please call Mr. A in advance, so we can adjust our travel arrangements. The cost is $7.50 (for patch, insurance, materials, breakfast on Sunday) plus the cost of food (3 meals on Saturday). Eat before you come on Friday evening. Meet at the church hall at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. We'll be back by noon on Sunday. HEY, ADULTS! We forgot to do our Tour Permit!

Our Fifth Annual Pancake Breakfast will be from 6 a.m. through 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 5th. Scouts should be selling advance tickets now, to earn SCOUT BUCKS! The money from tickets sold at the door, will go to the troop. SCOUT FAMILIES: We sure could use your help in getting food and door prize donations, organization, cooking, etc. Please come meet with us from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays evenings if you can help out.

As in the past, there will be a lock-in at the church hall on Saturday, following the Pancake Breakfast, and the next morning the Scouts will attend mass at St. William Church for SCOUT SUNDAY.

The next Roundtable will be on Thursday, February 10th, at 7 p.m. at Waco Baptist Church. The Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters and SPL should attend.

Our skiing trip at Perfect North is scheduled for February 19th. Mrs. Bryant has passed out a worksheet to help each Scout figure out his cost for this trip. Mrs. B needs a deposit from each Scout who is going on this trip by FEBRUARY 5TH, after the Pancake Breakfast. Of course, SCOUT BUCKS can be used. After the skiing is over, we'll be spending the rest of the night at the Gruens' farm south of Cincinnati.

Our March campout is open to discussion. What do you all want to do?

April 15, 16 & 17 -- Extreme Scouting.

The May campout is also open to discussion. Where would YOU like to go?

We have a few Scouts who are interested in going to Camp McKee this summer. We are working on reserving Campsite 8 for the week of June 19th - 25th.

For our "High Adventure" trip this summer, we plan to canoe the Au Sable River (in Michigan) and go to Cedar Point (amusement park) July 2nd - 9th (or thereabouts).

SPECIAL MESSAGE TO ALL ADULTS WHO ARE WILLING TO HELP THE TROOP WITH PLANNING AND CARRYING OUT THE ABOVE AND OTHER ACTIVITIES:
We're experimenting with our planning sessions. Instead of meeting on a Sunday afternoon once a month, we are trying to do our planning every week between 7 & 7:20 while the Scouts are playing a game. Please join us!

Be sure to call if you have any questions.
