Thursday afternoon
Thursday afternoon.
Summary of stuff done so far:
- Tickets to Mexico and back from Chile booked and fully paid for.
- Ticket from San Jose, Costa Rica to Quito, Ecuador booked and fully paid for.
- First and second round of vaccinations complete.
- New passports applied for and received by post.
- Information on Visa Restrictions for our trip is as follows: Each of the countries in Central and South America will issue a 90 day/3 month holiday visa in the following circumstances:
- EU Passport.
- Proof of funds (credit card will do).
- Return or onward ticket.
The onward ticket for Central American countries has to be a departure from Central America within 90 days and the same for South American countries. We are flying into Ecuador on the 5th June and flying out of Chile on the 15th September and so we will be in South America for over 90 days. This means that we will need a visa for Ecuador but not for any of the other countries. This is the information which we received from Trailfinders any-way. I have an inherent distrust of travel agents however and so I am going to continue to check this out!
- Website up and running.
- Itinerary finalised.
- Clothing selected and packed. (yep….it really is done already).
Summary of things to do now:
- Rent the house!
- Change money to USD traveller checks
- Just two more jabs to go…..Rabies and Hep A and B.
- Buy a head torch.
- Rucksack cage.
- Locks and cable for security.
- Hiking Sandals.
- Money Belts.
- New Sleeping bag and sleep sheet.
- Water proof packing sacs.
We had our second spanish language lesson last night. Oh My God we are gonna be in so much trouble when we get there. It turns out that my pronunciation is passable but I can’t structure a sentence to save my live and S can remember all the words, in the right order but can’t pronounce any of them! If she ordered eggs she might be told that "no it’s not Thursday, it’s Monday"!
I have inserted links to each of the countries in our itinerary on the maps section. If you click on the links it should bring you through to a map of the country with the route we will be taking. As we start our journey we will insert the journals here so everyone knows where we are and what we are up to.
Haste Luego!
