Friday morning,
Work.
Had a couple of beers in the local last night as S finished her exams and so we "had to go out". There goes my abstenance from booze for the month of January. Wasn't feeling so spritely this morning and to make matters worse 1. I had to go down to the village to pick up the car before then heading into work, 2. S had the day off and barely raised her head to say goodbye. 3. Have a toothache from a botched job by the dentist. At least for six months there won't be that "getting up for work" feeling!
Started to get things organised finally. Have an appointment on Monday for the first round of vaccinations. They are as follows: * Rabies shot 1of 3. E&S * Hepatitus A and B shot 1 of 2. E&S * Yellow Fever. E&S * Typhoid. E&S * Diptheria. E&S * Cholera. E&S * Polio, Tetanus. S only. Total cost for the first round of jabs is EUR200 and that is with a 13% discount because it's winter!!!!!! More money to shell out for Rabies and Hep A&B later.
Heading into trailfinders tomorrow to buy our tickets. Costs are as follows: * Dublin/London/Frankfurt/Mexico City 2nd April * Santiago/Frankfurt/London/Dublin 20th September.......EUR663. * San Jose, Costa Rica/Quito, Equador........EUR 160. * Sucre, Bolivia/Sao Paolo, Brazil/Iguasso Falls, Brazil.....EUR333. Trailfinders want to sell us an insurance policy for about EUR500 each but we have heard that other companies sell similar insurance for much cheaper so we are going to shop around. We are going to enquire about visa requirements and whether Trailfinders will sort that out for us which brings me onto the next item.
Passports: another EUR50 or so to shell out on the passports. S has a good 8 months left on hers but we have heard that some countries require your passport to be valid for another 12 months after entering their country.
At least the website is running! Not all the links are here yet but I reckon everything should be tidied up and all the links will be working by this time next week. I'll start distributing the URL after that so everybody will know what we are up to. |
