The Dominion

At first, they were just a rumor when exploration of the Gamma Quadrant began, thanks to the discovery of the Bajoran Wormhole. No one knew who they were, or what they represented.

A short time after Starfleet arrived on the station, a Klingon ship brought Croden to the station. He represented the third race from the Gamma Quadrant that the Federation had encountered. Odo arrested Croden for a murder he committed while trying to rob Quark and twin Miradorn theives. Croden identified Odo as a 'Changeling', telling him that he once knew of a colony of Changelings in the Gamma Quadrant.

A year after the wormhole was found, Grand Nagus Zek of Ferenginar had Quark open negotiations with the Dosi for tulaberries, used in tulaberry wine. With Pel's assistance, Quark held conferences with the Dosi onboard Deep Space Nine. Under Zek's orders, Quark continued to ask for more and more tulaberries. The Dosi refused to supply the one hundred thousand the Ferengi were asking for, and left the station. Quark & Pel followed them to their homeworld, where Zyree of the Dosi told Quark that she can connect him with the Karemma, an important power in the Dominion. When asked what the Dominion is, the cryptic answer was, "Let's just say, if you want to do business in the Gamma Quadrant, you have to do business with the Dominion."

Stardate 47391.2 - Haneek of the Skrreeans was the first refuge of her people to arrive on Deep Space Nine. She told the crew that her people had been enslaved by the T-Rogorans. The Skrreean farmers were able to escape after the T-Rogorans were conquered by the Dominion.

Stardate 47391.7 - Science Officer Jadzia Dax, Constable Odo, Doctor Mora Pol and Doctor Weld Ram went to LS6, an unhabited planet in the Gamma Quadrant. There they find a pillar in the center of the ruins of a town square, and an algae-like substance. Both were taken back to the station for study. The algae substance proved to be a life form similiar to Odo, but was unable to survive in the station's environment.

Stardate 47603.3 - Science Officer Dax & Odo found a holographic colony with only one real inhabitant - an old man named Rurigan. After Dax shut down the holo-projector in the center of the colony, Rurigan told them that he was from Yadera Prime, which had been taken over by the Dominion. He had fled them, the sole survivor, and recreated his life in the village to regain what he had lost.

Two years after coming to Bajor, Commander Benjamin Sisko, his son Jake, Quark, and Nog went to an uninhabited planet in the Gamma Quadrant for a science project. The first night there, Commander Sisko & Quark, along with a frightened alien woman, were captured by soldiers who identified themselves as Jem'Hadar. The Jem'Hadar Third, Talak'talon, told Sisko that they were being held because the Founders don't want them to be released.

Later on the station, Talak'talon gave Major Kira a Bajoran PADD with a list of ships that the Jem'Hadar had engaged in combat for violating Dominion territory. He also told her that the New Bajor colony in the Gamma Quadrant had been destroyed, and everyone killed, since it was on a Dominion-held planet.

Sisko, Quark & the woman, Eris, escaped from the Jem'Hadar. The Galxay-class USS Odyssey & Deep Space Nine's three runabouts arrived to rescue them. A battle ensued, and the Odyssey was destroyed by a Jem'Hadar cruiser in a suicide run.

Quark discovered that Eris had been lying to them, and that the Jem'Hadar wanted them to escape, with Eris. Sisko accused her of being a Founder, and she scoffed, saying that they wouldn't waste their time on him. She beams out into nothingness after telling Sisko and his crew that "you have no idea what's begun here."

Stardate 48212.4 - Commander Sisko arrived back at the station with the Defiant, an experimental warship built to fight the Borg. The ship had advanced weapons and a Romulan cloaking device. Sisko intended to go into the Gamma Quadrent, and find the Founders. Using Quark's contact with the Karemma, they went to a subspace relay station, where O'Brien & Dax were captured. The Defiant left them behind, to continue the search for the Founders. A few hours later, the ship was attacked, and boarded. Odo & Major Kira Nerys encountered Jem'Hadar in the corridors of the ship, while trying to get to the bridge. Kira was knocked out, and Odo carried her to a shuttlecraft. When she awoke, he told Kira that the last he saw of the Defiant, it was dead in space and surrounded by Jem'Hadar cruisers. Odo took them to the Omarion Nebula, a place he had been feeling drawn to since the ship went into the Gamma Quadrant. After landing on the only planet in the nebula, they found an amber lake, where three humanoids formed out of it. A female stepped forward, and welcomed Odo home.

The female told Odo that the lake is the Great Link, and that they are all a part of it. She told him that Odo was one of a hundred infants they had sent out to study the universe, and come back to the link. She told him that they were once hunted down, and persecuted by 'Solids', and that they now lived in isolation. However, Kira discovered a door sealing off a cavern. She got Odo's help in opening the door, where they found Jem'Hadar guards. The guards took them to a cavern where mental experiments were being run on Sisko, Bashir, the Romulan T'Rul, O'Brien & Dax to see how far they would go to protect the Alpha Quadrant from the Dominion. The female allowed them all to leave, after Odo told her that whatever they do to his friends, they would have to do to him. But, no Founder had ever harmed another.

A Boslic freighter captain sold Quark a cargo bay full of ship debris found in the Gamma Quadrant. While Quark was looking over his new merchandise, he heard a baby crying inside of a container. Three days later, the baby was a full grown Jem'Hadar. Odo took responsibility for the Jem'Hadar, and tried to expand his way of thinking, but to no avail. The boy left the station, to be with the other Jem'Hadar and fight enemies of the Dominion.

Stardate 48521.5 - The Female Founder took Kira's place, trapped on a seismic moon. She tried to fake death, so that Odo's link to the humans would end, and he would come back to the Gamma Quadrant.

A few months after the Defiant returned from the Founder Homeworld, the Cardassian Obsidian Order & the Romulan Tal Shiar launched an attack against the planet, destroying it's surface. But a Founder impersonating the Romulan Colonol Lovok made sure that no one would be harmed, and that the Jem'Hadar would be ready and waiting. The fleet of ships was completely destroyed by the Dominion.

A Founder impersonating Federation Ambassador Krajensky tried to take over the Defiant, in order to start a war between the Federation & the Tzenkethi. The Founder almost succeeded in his attempts by impersonating various crewmen on the ship. In a final battle, Odo threw the Founder against the Defiant's unsheilded warpcore, and he was killed. His final words to Odo were, "You're too late. We're everywhere."

Stardate 49011.4 - A Klingon Task Force arrived at Deep Space Nine, under the command of General Martok. The Klingons claimed to be there to help protect the station against the Dominion, but newly assigned officer Lieutenant Commander Worf found out that the Klingons were there to invade Cardassia. The Klingons believed that a recent coup on the planet was influenced by the Founders. The Klingons declared war on Cardassia, and dissolved diplomatic ties with the Federation.

Stardate 49066.5 - Chief O'Brien and Doctor Bashir found Jem'Hadar First Goran'Agar and his soldiers on Bopak III. Goran'Agar was there so that his men could defeat their need for ketracel-white, the substance provided by the Vorta so that the Jem'Hadar could live. He enlisted Bashir's help as a doctor to find a cure. Goran'Agar knew it was possible, since he had no need for the 'white'. Before Bashir can complete his research, it was destroyed by O'Brien, and the two escaped, leaving Goran'Agar behind to kill his men.

Stardate 49170.6 - A high level meeting between diplomats from the Federation and the Romulan Empire was bombed, and the security footage showed a Founder morphing from a vase shortly before the explosion. Captain Sisko & Odo were called to Earth, to help protect against the Dominion threat. Sisko implemented several new safeguards, including phaser sweeps and blood screens. Despite these changes, Odo discovered that Sisko's mentor Admiral Leyton was being impersonated by a Founder. A power outage convinced the Federation President to declare a state of emergency, the first since the Borg attack at Wolf 359, and Leyton & Sisko beamed Starfleet security officers all over the planet, for protection against the Dominion.

A few days later, Sisko was confronted by a Founder in the form of Chief O'Brien. He was told that there are only four Founders on the planet, not counting Odo. Sisko checked, and discovered that Leyton was planning a coup, so that the military could take over the government.

Stardate 49904.2 - The Defiant crew & a Jem'Hadar attack force joined together to stop renegade Jem'Hadar from activating an Iconian gateway in the Gamma Quadrant. The Vorta Weyoun was killed by the Jem'Hadar First, after questioning the loyalty of the Jem'Hadar after the gateway was destroyed.

A few weeks later, Bashir, Dax & Kira discovered a planet where the inhabitants are all infected with a disease called 'the Blight'. They were infected by the Dominion as an example to other races, and everyone on the planet was born with the disease, and they all would die from it. Bashir & Dax spent several weeks on the planet, and Bashir discovered a vaccine that would stop the Blight from infected the newborn of the planet, but would not help the adults.

Stardate 49962.4 - Odo become seriously ill, and could not hold his shape. Sisko took the Defiant into the Gamma Quadrant, to get the Founders to help cure Odo. The Female Founder arrived, with several Jem'Hadar cruisers, and they escorted the Defiant to the Founders' new planet. En route, Garak asked the Founder if there were any survivors from the attack a year before. She told him, "They're dead, you're dead, Cardassia is dead. Your people were doomed the moment they attacked us." She told Odo that he was to be judged for killing another Changeling. Sisko, Bashir, Odo & the Female Founder beamed down to the planet, and the two Changelings entered the ocean-sized link. Several hours later, Odo was washed up on the island where Sisko & Bashir had been waiting. Bashir discovered that the Founders had made Odo into a human.

In an undercover attempt by Sisko, Worf, Odo & O'Brien to expose Klingon Chancellor Gowron as a Founder, Odo discovered that it was General Martok who was being impersonated by a Founder.

Stardate 50049.3 - Captain Siso and his crew were able to salvage a crashed Jem'Hadar cruiser.

Quark sold a baby Changeling he bought from a Yridian to Odo. Odo & Doctor Mora Pol experimented on the baby, but are only mildly successful before the ill Changeling died. Odo cradled the goo left behind in his hands, and it entered his body. The baby Changeling turned Odo back into a shapeshifter.

On a mission to find survivors from Jem'Hadar attacks, Worf & Garak discovered a Dominion fleet near the wormhole & were taken prisoner by the Jem'Hadar. At the prison camp, they found Bashir, Martok & Enabrin Tain, Garak's father. The Dominion fleet entered the Alpha Quadrant, where they are led by Gul Dukat to Cardassia. He had negotiated Cardassia's membership in the Dominion, with himself as the ruler. Worf, Bashir, Martok & Garak escaped from the prison camp and reboard their runabout. A signal sent to the station revealed to the crew that the Bashir onboard is a Founder, who was trying to destroy the Bajoran sun. The Founder Bashir's runabout was destroyed before entering the sun's corona.

Dukat promised that all of Cardassia's enemies would be destroyed, and that all they have lost would be regained, including Deep Space Nine. The Klingons were forced to retreat from Cardassian territory, and Gowron agreed to a peace treaty between the Klingons & the Federation. Martok is put in command of a Klingon garrison on the station.

The Maqui were all but wiped out by Jem'Hadar forces. Only a few survivors remained, including Ro Laren and Michael Eddington.

Stardate 50975.2 - By this time, the Dominion had made non-aggresion treaties with the Romulans, the Miradorn, and the Breen. To stop further Dominion incursion into the Alpha Quadrant, Sisko ordered the wormhole entrance to be blocked by a cloaked, self-replicating minefield. To protect Bajor, he influenced the government to sign a non-aggresion treaty with the Dominion. After the minefield was completed, and cloaked, Starfleet & the Klingons leftthe battle led by Dukat. Dukat & Weyoun boarded the station, and took command. This was the start of the Dominion War.

Three months later, Starfleet & the Klingon Empire were being defeated at every battle with the Dominion. Admiral William Ross relieved Sisko of his command, and put him in charge of an undercover mission to destroy a ketracel-white facility in the Alpha Quadrant, using the ship that they had recovered the year before. The mission was successful, but the ship was badly damaged and crashed on a planet in an uncharted nebula. A Jem'Hadar crew had also crashed on the same planet. The Vorta promised to give Sisko the communication device they had salvaged, if he would kill the Jem'Hadar before the supply of white ran out. The crew was later recovered by Martok & the Rotarran.

Stardate 51145.3 - Admiral Ross made Captain Sisko his chief adjutant, and Dax was put in command of the Defiant.

On the station, Odo had formed a link with the Female Founder, despite Kira's objections. Glinn Damar, Dukat's top aide, found a way to bring down the minefield, one mine at a time. Rom was arrested by Damar before he can sabatoge the station's array to save the minefield from being taken down.

Sisko convinced Starfleet that they had to retake Deep Space Nine, and he lead the fleet from onboard the Defiant. In an epic battle, Starfleet & the Klingons forced the Dominion to abandon the station after the Dominion reinforcements were destroyed inside the wormhole by the Prophets, at Sisko's demand.

During the evacuation, Damar murdered Tora Ziyal, Dukat's half-Bajoran daughter. Ziyal's death pushed Dukat over the edge, and he lost his sanity.

Legate Damar was shown to be the new leader of Cardassia, after the defeat at Deep Space Nine, and the first set of peace talks are attempted.

Stardate 51474.2 - A group of Alpha Quadrant Jem'Hadar captured the Defiant during a science experiment at a rare subspace compression phenomenon. The Dominion bred the Alphas specifically for fighting against their enemies in the Alpha Quadrant, and they thought themselves to be better than the Gamma Quadrant Jem'Hadar.

Stardate 51721.3 - Captain Sisko enlisted Garak's help to forge proof that the Dominion was going to attack the Romulan Empire, in an effort to bring the Romulans into the war on the side of the Federation. The fake holoprogram was discovered, but the shuttle carrying Romulan Senator Vreenak was destroyed by a bomb, planted by Garak, in an effort to frame the Dominion. It worked, and the Romulans began to attack Dominion outposts along their border.

During the Dominion War, Lieutenant Commander Jadzia Dax programmed attack drones to defend her homeworld of Trill from a Dominion attack.

Stardate 51825.4 - A Defiant-class vessel, the Valiant, rescued Jake Sisko & Nog from a Jem'Hadar attack. The Valiant had been trapped behind enemy lines with a crew of Starfleet cadets, waging war against the Dominion. After an unsuccessful attempt to destroy a new Jem'Hadar battle cruiser, the Valiant itself was destroyed. Jake Sisko, Nog & Engineering Cadet Dorian were the only survivors.

Gul Dukat returned to Cardassia, and used a small Bajoran statue to become the host for a Pah Wraith, the Prophets that had been cast out from the Celestial Temple to the Fire Caves. While Sisko led an attack to gain a foothold in Dominion territory, Dukat arrived on the station, and killed Jadzia Dax before he unleashed the power of the Pah Wraiths into the Orb of Contemplation, and sealed the wormhole from within. This cut Sisko off from the Prophets, and he & Jake left the station for Earth after successfully taking the Chin'toka system from the Dominion.

After the Dax symbiont was removed from Jadzia by Doctor Bashir, the USS Destiny was used to transport the symbiont back to Trill. A Founder impersonating Doctor T'pek, the chief medical officer, also replaced Ensign Brinner Finok, the only male Trill onboard. When Ensign Ezri Tigan discovered the changeling infiltration, the Founder tried to kill her. The Founder also contacted the Jem'Hadar and the Destiny came under attack, forcing a joining between Ensign Tigan and the Dax symbiont.

Stardate 52152.6 - General Martok agreed to let Worf command a mission in Jadzia's name, to earn her place in StoVoKor, Klingon heaven. Bashir, O'Brien & Quark joined the Klingons, and the mission to destroy a Dominion shipyard in the Monac system was a success

Worf, Martok & Kor led an attack against several Dominion military targets using five Birds of Prey. Kor, in command of the Ning'tao, died in battle against ten Jem'Hadar cruisers.

During the Ba'ku mission, Commander Riker & Counselor Troi of the Enterprise-E discovered that the Son'a were supplying the Dominion with ketracel-white. The Son'a also had a caste system, and used illegal subspace weapons.

While resupplying AR-558 in the Chin'toka system, Sisko learned of a communications array that could allow Starfleet to tap into Dominion subspace communications. He agreed to stay, along with his crew to decipher the array, and defend the post. During a scouting mission, Ensign Nog was shot in the leg, and Bashir was forced to amputate below the knee. Sisko and the others were able to defend the array, and reinforcements arrived to replace the exhausted officers.

While returning to the station, O'Brien & Odo's runabout was boarded by a metamorph. He identified himself as Laas, and Odo realized he was one of the Hundred that the Founders had sent out to learn about the universe. Laas disagreed with Odo about humanoids, and thought himself to be superior. During an argument on the Promenade, Laas stabbed a Klingon with sword he morphed out of his arm. Kira allowed Laas to escape, out of her love for Odo. But Odo refused to go with Laas, after being told what she did for him.

The Dominion built a Jem'Hadar hatchery on Sindorin, an M-class planet in the Badlands. But, the war ended before they could begin breeding Jem'Hadar soldiers, and the hatchery was abandoned.

Stardate 52576.2 - The Breen joined the Dominion in the war against the Alpha Quadrant Alliance, and took Worf & Ezri Dax prisoner. The two were later turned over to Weyoun & the Female Founder as gifts, sealing the treaty between the Breen and the Dominion. After the Starfleet officers were brought to Cardassia, Legate Damar assisted in their escape, telling them that the Federation had an ally on Cardassia.

Damar began a resistance movement to protect Cardassian interests, since he believed his people had been conquered by the Dominion.

Ezri & Worf arrived on Deep Space Nine in time to hear that Starfleet Headquarters in San Francisco had been attacked by the Breen. The Dominion also retook the Chin'toka system, destroying the Defiant in the battle. The Female Founder allowed for the escape pods to return to Federation, to tell the tale of their defeat. Legate Damar's soldiers destroyed a Dominion outpost on Rondac III, which housed the Dominion's Vorta cloning facility.

Admiral Ross granted Kira a commission of Starfleet Commander, and she, Odo & Garak went to assist Damar in his efforts to overthrow Dominion rule.

Chancellor Gowron took control of the Klingon forces against the Dominion, since they were the only ships immune to the Breen weapons. His attack strategies were dangerous, and reckless. Martok & Worf both questioned his orders, and Worf killed Gowron in honorable combat during a briefing on Deep Space Nine. Worf proclaimed Martok to be the new chancellor of the Klingon Empire.

The Cardassian rebels - led by Damar, Kira, Odo & Garak - stole a Jem'Hadar cruiser that had the Breen weapon installed.

Stardate 52861.3 - Admiral Ross ordered a new Defiant-class ship to be placed under Sisko's command, the USS Sau Paulo. Sisko received special permission to rename the ship Defiant.

The Dominion withdrew from the further Cardassian outposts after destroying all eighteen of Damar's rebel bases.

The Female Founder ordered Weyoun to wipe out all of the Cardassians. Dominion forces bombed city after city, leaving Cardassia in ruins.

Sisko and the crew of the new Defiant led the final attack against the Dominion. During the battle, the Cardassians switched sides and started to attack the Breen & Jem'Hadar ships. With the new ships in the fleet, Sisko argued for a final push to Cardassia.

Damar, Garak & Kira attacked the Dominion headquarters, and made it into the military complex. Damar was killed by a Jem'Hadar, but the others pushed on. They took over the control room, and Garak killed the final Weyoun clone.

In orbit of Cardassia, it was a stand-off between orbital platforms, Jem'Hadar & Breen and the Alpha Quadrant Alliance & the Cardassian forces. Kira contacted the Defiant, and told them that the Female Founder refused to surrender. Odo beamed down, and linked with the her, afterward she ordered her forces to stand down, and agreed to be put on trial.

The Alpha Quadrant Alliance was successful, and ended the war with a final peace treaty signing ceremony held in the wardroom on Deep Space Nine.

Colonel Kira Nerys took Odo back to the Great Link in the Gamma Quadrant, so that he could cure the rest of the link from the disease that had been started by Section 31.

Three months after the war ended, Odo sent a Jem'Hadar soldier to Deep Space Nine, to learn more about humanity. His decision was questioned by others of the Great Link, including Laas. Three ships of rogue Jem'Hadar attempted to stop this peace initiative, but were unsuccessful.
