To give an insight into Glamorgan canal nature reserve (Forest farm) please
visit the following links:---

These
sites give excellent info about the history & the birth & use of the canal, for
anyone that's interested in local history.
My own interest stems from the fact that I grew up quite near to the canal back
in the fifties long before it became the reserve it is today! Plus my interest
in digital photography & the opportunity to take images of the amazing amount of
wildlife that frequents the reserve. The equipment I use in the main is a Canon
EOS 300d & 400D digital slr, fitted with a sigma 300mm lens & 2x converter.
(Forest farm) In March 1990 a Group was formed to contribute in whatever way
possible to the protection and development of the Glamorgan Canal Local Nature
Reserve and Forest Farm, and to promote the study of flora and fauna in their
natural habitat. The Nature Reserve, situated in Whitchurch Cardiff, was formed
in 1967 and straddles the last remaining stretch of the former Cardiff Merthyr
canal which still holds fresh water to a quality good enough to provide a good
hunting ground for Kingfishers, Herons and many others species.
I hope you enjoy the images, which will be updated periodically as new material
becomes available. All images are copyright, any enquiries as to their use
should be directed to me via e-mail.
Framed A4
prints are now available for a reasonable cost, please contact me by e-mail
for information.
