Buffalo Time Council (BTC)Please note this is an unofficial page not connected to the official Buffalo Time Council website. I (Dave Jeffery), as a BTC member, have put this page together as a service to JefferyGuide readers. For the official Buffalo Time Council website, click on the link near the bottom of this page. |||||||||||||||||||| The Buffalo Time Council (BTC) is a Buffalo-area not-for-profit group of fans of Doctor Who and of science fiction in general. BTC monthly meetings are held at the apartment of Dennis Blake, 11 Henley Road, (North) Buffalo, NY, USA (behind the Parkside Academy). Meetings are usually the fourth Sunday of each month, starting at 1:30 PM Eastern Time. Visitors are welcomed, free refreshments are served. Please note that not all monthly meetings are on the fourth Sunday of each month - sometimes a holiday or special event causes a BTC meeting to be pushed back a week or pushed forward a week, depending on the situation (upcomming meeting dates can be found further down this page). Dues are $10.00 (U.S.) to join and $8.00 (U.S.) each year to renew. Family memberships are the same rate, but just one newsletter sent. Doctor Who is a trademark of the British Broadcasting Corporation. Upcomming BTC Meetings at 11 Henley Road in Buffalo, NY, USA: December 27, 2009; January 24, 2010; February 28, 2010; April 18, 2010; May 23, 2010; June 27, 2010; July 25, 2010; August 22, 2010. It's official! David Tennant leaves Doctor Who with the end of the five specials for 2009. He made the announcement last night while accepting his third National Television Award. (JefferyGuide note: for more on Tennant's departure, see the bottom of the JefferyGuide Doctor Who Main Page).

It's official, the new Doctor is Matt Smith! The actor is ironically best know for being the companion to Bille Piper's detective in her two mini-series last year, The Ruby In The Smoke and A Shadow From The North. He's younger than Davison was when he took the part. Most of his UK credits haven't made it over here yet. Supposedly, he'll be in another Piper show, an upcoming episode of Secrets Of A Call Girl. Also, the BBC continues to make major announcements just after I printed the (BTC) newsletter: The BBC confirms they have begun talks with several companies for making a stand alone Doctor Who motion picture. No company names were made public, but one paper said all the contenders were British, not Hollywood. David Tennant will appear in the 5th & 6th episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures as the Doctor breaks up her wedding. BBC America will be the new home for Doctor Who, starting with the Easter special, Planet of the Dead in June or July. Who Party 14 (in Toronto) has added director Colin Teague as a guest for the June 13th event. He was the first to direct Doctor Who + The Sarah Jane Adventures + Torchwood. From Dennis Blake
Also, newspapers such as The Sun, show a new style Tardis. It seems a darker, richer blue; has sharp (not rounded by age) angles; and appears a bit taller. The first episode being filmed features actress Alex Kingston, who played 'River Song' in season four. Something must be wrong at BBC, they always seem to announce these things the Monday after I print the newsletter, not the Monday before. Maybe, it's the new production team. The 2010 BTC Room Party at Eeriecon is scheduled for Friday, April 23rd, 2010 (to be held at the Days Inn at the Falls in Niagara Falls, NY). The room party gets started in the 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM range. The map below shows the location of the Days Inn at the Falls (which is marked with a red square).
