Welcome to the JefferyGuide Torchwood area.

Torchwood is a British sci-fi tv series which follows the adventures of Captain Jack Harkness and his Torchwood team. Torchwood investigates alien happenings on modern day Earth, as well as investigating paranormal events and strange crimes.

Torchwood is set in and around Cardiff, England (with the Torchwood base of operations being located under the Roald Dahl Plaza in Cardiff).

Torchwood is also a spinoff of the popular British sci-fi tv series Doctor Who. However, while Doctor Who is geared toward a younger audience, Torchwood is geared toward an adult audience.

Since Torchwood is geared toward an adult audience, complete with strong language and mature themes, JefferyGuide has written this Torchwood area in a watered down format (in this way, people can find out about Torchwood without being exposed to strong language and overly mature references).

Main Characters:

Captain Jack Harkness (Season 1 - present)(played by John Barrowman): a former time agent from Earth's far future, Harkness has wound up on present day Earth as leader of the Torchwood team. The rest of the Torchwood team, which are all from present day Earth, are unaware of who Harkness was before he wound up at Torchwood.

Gwen Cooper (Season 1 - present)(played by Eve Myles): a former police officer who is now a member of the Torchwood team, and who is an investigator for Torchwood.

Dr. Owen Harper (Seasons 1 and 2)(played by Burn Gorman): Torchwood's medical officer, and also the second-in-command of Torchwood. Among Harper's duties is studying aliens that Torchwood comes across from time to time. Killed off at the end of Season 2.

Toshiko ("Tosh") Sato (Seasons 1 and 2)(played by Naoko Mori): Torchwood's computer specialist. Killed off at the end of Season 2.

Ianto Jones (Season 1 - Season 3)(played by Gareth David-Lloyd): acts as a general support person for Torchwood. Killed off near the end of the Season 3 mini-series Torchwood: Children of Earth.
