This area is dedicated to the victims and survivors of September 11, 2001. May we never forget.

Nation of Survivors
[Thanks to Cindy Fifer for submitting this to JefferyGuide]

In the bright September morning without warning to us all
A few thousand lives were shattered and we watched two buildings fall
And a billion souls fell empty, and the flags at half-mast fly
In the memory of the innocent which didn't have to die

We've lost brothers, sisters, cousins. We've lost family and friends
But we've made the choice not to forget their lives and tragic ends
Though we've had our share of troubles we have put them all aside
As a nation grieves we find ourselves defending them with pride

We're a nation of survivors, with one heart we share a tear
But we live to serve the memory, not giving in to fear.
Though they try to take security with the things they've done and said
All their acts of inhumanity bring unity instead.
So we stand here as a family. One heart, one soul, one voice.
We are challenged by this moment, and united here by choice.

We Remember

What a beautiful, crystal clear day September 11th of 2001 started out to be.

That first strike into the World Trade Center. At first, we thought it was a tragic airplane accident. We would soon learn otherwise.

The second strike into the World Trade Center, and the sickening realization that this was no accident, that we were under attack.

The many firefighters and police officers who risked their lives so people could be saved from the World Trade Center.

The many firefighters and police officers who lost their lives when the towers of the World Trade Center collapsed.

The many people who worked inside the World Trade Center who lost their lives when the towers of the World Trade Center collapsed.

The passengers and crew of each hijacked airliner who died on September 11th.

The strike against the Pentagon, and the effort to save the building and those inside.

The passengers on United flight 93 fighting back.

The non-stop television news coverage, not only during September 11th, but for the days to come.

The missing posters for those lost during September 11th.

The recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site, and the crowds that gathered to support those who were involved with the recovery efforts.

The scene at the World Trade Center site - nothing but dust and twisted steel where two proud buildings had once stood.

The occassional discovery of a body in the rubble of the World Trade Center site, and the flag draped respect it received.

The makeshift memorials in memory of those lost during September 11th.

The funerals for those lost during September 11th.

Each anniversary of September 11th - the moments of silence, and the reading of the names of the dead.

We remember.
