Third Commandment
“Thou shalt not take the name of LORD thy God in vain…
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his
name in vain.”

Jesus said, “But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall
speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment” Matthew 12:36.

It is not just swearing using God’s name that is sin, but even the flippant
use of His name in your conversations that are not honoring to God. The
flippant use of phrases “Oh, god.” or “My god.” or “Jesus Christ.” in
everyday conversations are examples of not using God’s name as a cuss word,
but in essence the person saying them is saying that God’s name isn’t
anything special and isn’t worthy of any respect.
