Lee Edelman passed away today at 5:45am PST
Uncle Lee has passed away. This is really hard to believe because I just saw him in good health at Cedars Sinai, praying for my Dad, and now Lee is gone too. In roughly one year, aunt Barabara has lost her brother, her daughter, and now her husband... and they all died from seperate causes. I feel so bad for her. I feel bad for all of us. Below, I have copied the email that Kathi sent me. Email from Kathi: "Hi Will, I received a call from Barbara at 8:52am (5:52am PST) that I was dreading. At approximately 5:45am PST Lee Edelman died. Barbara doesn’t want to speak on the phone very much, so she called me and asked me to get the word out. I asked her if she thought it would be appropriate to announce Lee’s passing on Bill’s website. She thought that was an excellent idea. So please Will, would you either rephrase my thoughts or copy this email to the website for Barbara? Barbara told me that they would be having a Chumash Indian Burial Ceremony on December 1st, 2007 on the Malibu Bluffs overlooking the mountains and the ocean. Barbara doesn’t have any details yet as her daughter Tessie is making the arrangements. Barbara said that she would be back in touch with me very soon. We will miss Lee very much. He was a quiet man and a very kind soul. I only spoke with Lee a few times, but every time he was very up beat and positive. Even after speaking to the doctors and hearing very bad news he remained very positive. He even told me that everything was going well. Lee will be greatly missed! Love, Kathi PS: We will post Lee’s funeral arrangements here on Bill’s website when we know them. "

Lee Edelman
As many of you already know, my Uncle Lee isn't doing well. Please pray for him. This is my Aunt Barbara's husband and she has been through enough this year... and poor Lee is fighting for his life right now. Kathi told me that "Lee received the same chemo as last time, but this time it did nothing. The bad white blood cells came back with a vengeance." Please pray for Lee and the entire Edelman-Beaton family.

Blackwater
As many of you know, my brother is a contractor for Blackwater. A lot has been said in the media about Blackwater recently. My brother is not allowed to say anything on the topic. However, I will say that the media seems to be "inventing" much of what we are reading and hearing. Blackwater employees will be fined up to a years salary for speaking to the press. So, keep in mind that we are only hearing one side of the story. Also, please keep in mind that Blackwater guys really are the best of the best. They are all hand chosen and tested by Blackwater for months before going to theater. These guys probably don't randomly shoot at civilians... I just hope that friends and family will read what I've written and come to a logical conclusion.

Pappy has passed on...
Many of you have met my mother (Deb's) husband, Mark. Unfortunately, Mark's father, Walter Lundin (we call him "Pappy"), passed away on the 2nd after battling cancer. Pappy will be missed very much by everyone that got to know him. He was always busy doing something and rarely sat down to take a break. Pappy was a WWII Ace and was one of the few surviving Aces from the Second World War. I know that Dad really enjoyed talking with him (and probably will again) about aviation (especially the famous battle called "The Great Marianas Turkey Shoot"). This was one of the most incredibly lopsided Arial victories in US history. The American fighter pilots attained a staggering 12-to-1 kill-to-loss ratio in the skies above the Philippine Sea. Pappy was truly a national war hero and got many requests for his autograph by aviation and history enthusiasts. I am proud to say that I knew him. He was 91. Please click here to view Pappy's obituary.

I'm back!
I just got back from my trip. I had a wonderful time. In 3 weeks I visited Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, and I flew home from Finland. That was pretty exhausting, but very fun. I know that Dad was watching over me and occasionally saying "hey bear!". I know that he is proud of me for keeping my word on a promise I made years ago. The promise was that I would visit a different country for every year that I have lived. I am now back in the black with 36!

Website down...
Mood: accident prone The website was down because of a miscommunication problem. Obviously, this has been resolved. I will be on vacation for the next 3 weeks and will try to update the website remotely if anything exciting happens. Bye everybody!

Life goes on...
Mood: special I will be taking a trip to Scandinavia next week. I'm very excited. Haven't done much travelling recently. Kathi is also taking a trip to spend time with her family in Myrtle Beach and I'll be watching the house (and the pets). Alex got a new puppy (black Doberman) and he named it Bishop. Molly and Jeff are doing well and so is little Kyle. We all miss Dad so much and he would want us to live lives to the fullest. Nobody is going to stop the Beatons!

Dinner at Dad's
Alex, and his girlfriend Kayleigh, had a great time this past week. They returned from their cruise on Sunday to stay with Kathi at Dad's house. I cought a couple of Kingfish on Sunday morning and Kathi prepared a wonderful meal that evening. It was the first time that we had most of the family together (missed Molly and the Browns thou) since Dad passed away. I'm sure Dad was looking down last night and smiling at the site of seeing his boys and Kathi spending time together and remembering him.
