My affection with LBC's (little British cars) began a long time ago when I helped my neighbor build a mg td kit car in his backyard. Of course I knew that wasn't the "real thing" and since that time I looked any time I heard one coming, they are distinctive aren't they? Ever since that time I have been hooked on these cars. I never thought that I would actually own one! In the late summer of 2001 I decided that I was going to finally have a car of my own to play with. A little bit of talking with the wife of 25 years, and she was okay with it. I set out on a quest to find the perfect Lbc. I had a route of over 1500 miles that I was going to travel to see about 4 different cars. The one that I ended up with was a 1979 Mg Midget. She had only 19,000 original miles on her clock! I played with the midget for a year, But my thirst was not quite quenched yet, I have always liked the style and lines of the "bugeye" or correct name Sprite. (The Brits call them Frogeyes) Then I saw her, it was love at first sight, She was only 700 miles away in Winnipeg Canada!! I Sat at the computer for hours watching the bids, and in the last few seconds, entered , what I thought was my highest possible bid that I could afford, and BAM the auction ended, and the next morning I was traveling to Winnipeg. One Of my best buddies teased me to no end, about that I would end up having an Earring and the like, if I was going into this kind of car. And WHY did I want to spend money on that? Well I figure that if its a midlife crisis like so many people think it is, there are a lot worse things that guys can get them selves in trouble with, so why not something that can leave my family life in tact.
