Sit and Talk
I had the greatest time with her today
She brought along a friend
I guess to chaperone
Her heart and mine are all a blur
So, we really shouldn't be alone
Who knows what might happen?
All we did was sit and talk
The moon was king and the wind was his messenger
Bringing us a message of warmth and friendship.
She has such kind eyes
And she told me I was nice
But I'm too shy to tell her, she is beautiful
And she is too shy to tell me
she knows, I think she is beautiful
So all we do is sit and talk.
For once I may leave it that way
Why... Because the minute you say you love someone
You tell them they are no longer good enough.
Something has to change--something that is never you.
Someone or something has to go, or you will go
We can never, ever, ever love people for who they
really are.
We love them for who we want them to be
So, that means, all we can do right now is sit and
talk.
In order to keep things perfect
For us both to have our fantasies about
What could be if, and only if
Or what could come, you never know
I will not do one thing
to spoil the fun that we are having.
So for now,
All that she and I will do is

And when she looks at me with those rosewood eyes
And I hear her laugh trickle like a brook
I will for that moment
Know what it means to be happy.
