Tell us how you 1st got into backyard wrestling.....
Well ever since I first watched the WWF (like a few years ago), I knew I wanted to be a professional wrestler. And I personally thought "Backyard Wrestling" was the next best thing. I started one summer when me and my friends were just hanging out watching wrestling. We just started shoot fighting, then eventually added more professional moves. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to start our own federation. We didn't even know there was such a thing as backyard wrestling.
How did the SWF start? and why do you use the name 'satanic'?
Well one night, the SWF owner Nader Pardis crashed at my place for the night. While watching SummerSlam 2001, he was coming up with all these hellish ideas, like a Suicidal Barbed Wire Canes match, etc..... And he started going on about how he's created a fed called the Satanic Wrestling Federation. I was invited to join, so I said "yea, why not". All the NBW wrestlers have shipped to the SWF and we have started making an "Invasion" angle between SWF and NBW. "Satanic" in this sence means "cruelty and violence of an extreme nature". And no, the owner is not the devil...(i have been asked this so many times)
What do you think of the current UK BYW scene?
I think the UK BYW scene needs a "boost" somewhat. I mean, ENBW haven't wrestled since last July and some of the feds on the UKBYW music video look so fake and "dorkish". Even so, there are some good feds going. Such as XIW and XEW, and SWF if I might add.
Whats been the highest point of your backyard 'career' ?
The highest point so far was when I joined the SWF. I knew for sure that something good would come out of this fed. I have wrestled matches there that have really brought out my talent.
And the lowest? Definatly when I broke Assassin's arm last August. I kicked a ladder from under his feet, and he crashed to the floor, snapping his arm. I felt so sorry for the guy. He is one tough dude and I wish for it to never happen again.
Where do see SWF and yourself in the next few years?
In a few years? I am not sure, but I hope we are up somewhere near the top.
Any plans to go pro?
Yeah, I am scheduled to start training at the Alex Shane's Academy in London
If you could wrestle anybody who would it be?
Without a doubt, Dakahn from EBW Portland. I think me and him have a certain psychological connection. We both wrestle in similar attire, we use similar moves and we both have the same style of wrestling. I would love to have a matchup with him, just to see what happens!
Tell us a bit about your 'Christian Rave' gimmick? and how you came up with it...
Well I have always liked the name Christian, so I guess pro wrestling gave me the chance to change my name in way. And I chose "Rave" because I am the wrestler who stands out most in the federation. I also used "Rave" because it explains my gimmick, as I am the cocky, wild kid who always sees himself as the best.....
Thanks for Spending time to do this interview ... any last plugs or comments?
No problem Phil, and thanks for interviewing me. I would just like to say
that if you dont truly love pro wrestling, then dont think about becoming a
backyard wrestler. Don't become a backyard wrestler because its the cool
thing to do. Don't do it cuz all your friends do it. If you don't truely
love wrestling, your going to suck. If you love wrestling, don't let it
bother you when people don't like whut you do... Your doing it for the love
of the sport, not to impress others!
thanks again phil...
