Finally....! The rain stopped, the winds calmed and the temperature was reasonable. Once again a real good turnout. I didn't get to the field until 12:30 and by then some trees had been cut and other work had been accomplished. Thanks to those who worked before the rest of us played.
Jimmy Gibson told me he was out the weekend before and flew by himself. Today he did great and now is thinking about his next plane. But Uncle Sam has some ideas about where his money will go before he can get another plane ;O( sorry Jimmy! BUT AT LEAST YOUR TRAINER CORD IS A THING OF THE PAST :O)
Cory soloed today (reminder for Tim - solo certificate) and flew three times without his trainer cord. Super job Cory!
The bald headed guy with the Avistar is an old friend of mine. He lives up around Paris, works out of Jackson and is out of town most of the year. We used to fly together in the late 70's and early 80's. He new he was coming home for a couple days and had me order him a plane so that he could get back into RC. Jeff Cowan took him up on the trainer cord and turned him loose after a couple flights. He flew solo the rest of the day with no problems. Rolls, loops, and inverted flight. Guess he didn't forget much in 20 years.
Jeff Cowan has a beautiful G-Shark, only problem is that it only starts with the wing off. Now if it would only start with the wing on, he might get to fly it ;O)
Billy Taylor rebuilt a crashed P 51 and must have done a good job. It flew great and as hard as he tried, he couldn't get the wing to fold.
After working most of the day, Tim Treneff came back with his Somethin Extra and gave us a good show. I make a motion that, if we ever have a inverted ribbon cut contest, Tim can't compete! Tim also certified me at bat launching :O(
I guess I should mention that we had a visitor at the field today........Welcome, Tim Blankenship. Hope to see you more often. Bring a plane the next time :O) We also had a short visit by Jeff Layman.........
