Josie was born
in 1956, in a little village near Seoul, Korea. The area was still
suffering from the effects of the Korean war. Only male children
had toys. The lack of toys encouraged Josie's creative and artistic
talent. Josie remembers playing with a pillow and pretending it
was a doll. she also enjoyed drawing and painting when materials
were available.
In 1994 when Josie came to America, she became interested in quilts,
bears, and other forms of American crafts. She soon became an expert
seamstress. Eventually she began dressing dolls as nuns. These dolls
are historically correct in every way. she follows historical books
that show hundreds of different religious orders, including Episcopal,
Anglican, Orthodox, Lutheran, and Buddhist. Her dolls range in size
from 6 inches to 32 inches. Josie also dresses some dolls as priests,
ministers, monks, and rabbis.
Barbie and Ken dolls are used for most of the dolls, but others
are used, depending upon size desired. Josie has a large selection
of dolls on hand at all times. She also is willing to take special
orders. She has traveled to many doll shows throughout the U.S displaying
and selling her dolls.
