Good Friday, Ryder's Birthday, Easter Sunday, Cirque, 2 Days of Souplantation and Thuy's Visit
Mood:
caffeinated
So it's Friday, don't have any plans. Who knows, we might visit Amy for some drinks if I'm up to it. I didn't get any sleep last night, Mika screamed at the top of her lungs the whole night. I figured that she was teething but I had been sleepless for 3 nights and was in no condition to arise. I popped her favorite cereal in her mouth everytime she awoke, which distracted her and put her back to sleep. This happened incessently throughout the night, causing me to realize, now too late, that I should've medicated her the first time she awoke. Anyhows, here's a recap of my whole week since last Friday.
Good Friday: We set aside our lunch for mass at Polycarp today. I had plans to meet up with Gigi for dinner but the rain didn't want to make up it's mind so I eventually cancelled. Didn't think it would be a good idea driving alone with Mika at night in the rain. Since we needed to stock up on beer for dinner at home, Bien took us to the Korean market so that we could grab some seaweed for Mikayli at the same time. After dinner, Bien went out. Mikayli slept while I scoured the satellite for Titanic. Lucky old me, I found just what I was looking for and cried my heart out once again for Jack and Rose.
Saturday 15th: Mikayli and I slept in while Bien went out to buy us breakfast. He had meant to get us Chao but the wait was too long so he brought home Pho Ga instead. We did some cleaning and lounged around most of the morning. In the afternoon, we dropped off some packages at the Post Office and bought Mika a Graco toddler carseat from Walmart. Bien installed it on the spot and Mikayli didn't take too long to inform us of her discomfort with the seat. It was one of those kinds that have a bar that comes down over the child, she dispised that thing. In the evening, we dropped by Anh Tung and Chi Duyen's house for Ryder's 1st birthday party. Mikayli was able to see bunny rabbits for the first time ever today. They were one of Ryder's birthday present. She was hesitant at first but you could tell she loved petting them. It's always freezing at their house since they live closer to the beach. It was their that Mikayli's nose started running. We were only there for about an hour, left just when Mika's sneezes proved that she was catching a cold.

Sunday 16th: HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! Thank you Jesus, for your sacrifice, we shall always be appreciative of your love. This was Mika's 2nd Easter. I remember last year, she was about a month old and we weren't allowed to venture outside (viet superstitions). Bien had to attend mass without us while I laid in bed, appreciating God's gift to us while I gazed at our sleeping daughter's face. We opted not to host an easter egg hunt this year and wait until Mika is a bit older and there are more kids in our lives to enjoy it. Instead, we took pictures of us in the front lawn, minus the Easter props.
I was too excited about
Cirque du Soleil today that I barely had a wink of sleep last night. Also, this was the morning that I felt the beginnings of a bad cold. Grrr...Mika and I have the same immune systems. We bought these Cirque tickets as a birthday gift to Binnie, who had never heard of it before. Bien and I had been to one show prior to this one, called Varekai at OC Fairgrounds several years back. We were so astonished with the performances that Bien insisted that we try to see all their shows. As for Annie and Eric, she had never been but it seems he's seen all of their shows. We started off our morning with Easter mass. It was crazy, the church was busting at the seams with people. After mass, we picked up Chi Minh for breakfast at Binh Minh where I shared a Bun Rieu with Mikayli. By the time we were done, I had a sinking feeling we weren't going to make it to the Cirque show in time. We had to drop off Chi Minh at home, change Mikayli's diapers and wait for Bien and Binnie to get out restroom before we headed towards Long Beach. We arrived about 15 minutes late, just when the second act was halfway done. We were so thankful for those people who moved over in their seats so that we could sit next to Annie and Eric. I especially loved the Statue performance. It was performed by a totally ripped male and female, who balanced themselves with each other's strength.

Upon our arrival, we noticed a whole bunch of people coming out of their cars with luggages and came to the conclusion that this was where our cruise was going to board. Yay, only another month and a half till our fun in the sun! After the show, Anton invited us to join him with Tracey and Tony for lunch at Com Tam Thanh.
Monday 17th: Annie stopped by for assistance with installing her baby's carseat since Eric had such a dificult time doing it himself. Afterwards, we lunched at
Souplantation and picked up Alice to join us at Walmart. I exchanged that toddler carseat that Mika hated for a Safety1st one. Annie found herself some baby essentials while Alice bought some doggy food.
Tuesday 18th: Souplantation again today, this time for dinner, with Bickie and Alice. It was my 3rd time ever and I just love it, thanks Kimmie for introducing me to it. The only time I can go there is if I team up with one of my friends because Bien doesn't think soup and salad is ideal for filling up.
Wednesday 19th: Mika is still coughing, especially everytime she falls asleep, causing her to vomit due to the loogies. I haven't had a good night's sleep for the past two evenings, hopefully her cold will let up soon. I was in desperate need for a boost of energy and found myself consuming a tall cup of iced coffee from Starbuck's. It had been more than 2 years since I've had caffeine so I was completely wired throughout the day. Thuy set aside some time out of her vacation for us and we met up at
Cheesecake Factory for a late lunch. Her daughter, Megan, was turning 5 at the end of this month and this was the first time I had ever met her. She was just so adorable, a replica of her Daddy. Unfortunately, Mikayli fell just when Megan's mood came to and we ended up calling it a day. Hopefully we can meet up once more before Thuy returns to Michigan this Wednesday, gotta take more pictures! Also, check out Mika in her new carseat. I installed it forward-facing yesterday, resulting in a much happier baby.

Thursday 20th: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRAN!
