B-ball, Cabazon, Last Day w/ Thuy, FFF, OC Market, Housecall at Amy's, Disney, Red Robin and Baby Sheyla
Mood:  crushed out
Okay guys, it's been 2 weeks since I've deprived you of my blogs so here's a major update. It's been a busy two weeks and there are a lot of pictures so I'll try to make it short. Also, I found Amie and Thinh's Wedding pictures from back in 2002 and posted those up too. Check them out.

Friday 21st: After work, we went to An'Z for dinner with the boys. We ordered their famous broiled fish for the first time and fell in love with it's sweet meat.

Saturday 22nd: Bien spent the majority of the day on his project car while Mikayli and I did some cleaning. In the evening, the boys rounded up for some basketball while Annie and I anxiously mulled over Athena's impending arrival. We would've gone for some Joe Latti's but it was too cold and windy.

Sunday 23rd: Mikayli screamed at the top of her lungs the majority of the night. I had made sure to medicate her for teething but still couldn't avoid it. By 5:00am, we opted to get up out of the house for some Chao at Tan Hoang Huong. Then we were off to Cabazon and Morongo with my in-laws. I bought myself a non-returnable $150 BCBG Sundress with the intention of wearing it for the upcoming wedding but figured it would be more fitting for the cruise when we got home.

Tuesday 25th: Thuy was returning the following day so we met up with her and her family for some quality fun at Lucky Strike and D&B's.

Friday 28th: FFF was at Chuck E Cheese's again. This time Mika knew how to walk and tried climbing on every single ride. She would point and ask for assistance once she realized she couldn't do it on her own, it was the cutest thing ever. Mika also shot some hoops with her Daddy. For dinner, D&B met us up at Bangkok BBQ for some yummy Thai food.

Saturday 29th: We started the morning off at the OC Marketplace with Phungus, VyVy and Nancy. They had never been before and found many things to purchase. For lunch, we made a stop at Souplantation. Phungus said that the restaurant was too healthy for her. After Mikayli's nap, I polished her toenails for the first time ever. Her feet looked absolutely adorable. I think I'll do neon pink on her for the cruise next time. At night, Bien dropped us off at Amy's for a housecall. I drank up a whole bottle of Ravenswood while Amy took several shots of Crown. Mikayli entertained herself with Charlie, the pitbull.

Sunday 30th: Yeah, we actually went to Disney spontaneously on a whim. It was Mika's first time ever and she was oohing and aahing at everything. We all had a blast, too bad my camera didn't function properly through the day. To end the day, we topped it off at Baker's Square where we all had a meal and a slice of pie each. Yum-Yum.

Tuesday 2nd: We all felt hungry and decided on meeting up at Red Robin for dinner. That place has pretty good Strawberry Lemonade.

Wednesday: 3rd: It's a Girl! Say hello to Baby Sheyla you guys. Congratulations Annie and Eric for your beautiful lil' princess. You guys make me jealous, now I really miss being preggers.

Update on Mika: I still don't know the cause of all her late night screams since I still haven't found the suspected tooth. Thankfully that phase is over, now I can conquer her naptime battles without the nighttime screams. :)

Update on my Toshiba: She was admitted into ICU two weekends ago and I still have not heard from the Doc. If it weren't for my desktop, I'd be suffering from major internet withdrawal.

Good Friday, Ryder's Birthday, Easter Sunday, Cirque, 2 Days of Souplantation and Thuy's Visit
Mood:  caffeinated
So it's Friday, don't have any plans. Who knows, we might visit Amy for some drinks if I'm up to it. I didn't get any sleep last night, Mika screamed at the top of her lungs the whole night. I figured that she was teething but I had been sleepless for 3 nights and was in no condition to arise. I popped her favorite cereal in her mouth everytime she awoke, which distracted her and put her back to sleep. This happened incessently throughout the night, causing me to realize, now too late, that I should've medicated her the first time she awoke. Anyhows, here's a recap of my whole week since last Friday.

Good Friday: We set aside our lunch for mass at Polycarp today. I had plans to meet up with Gigi for dinner but the rain didn't want to make up it's mind so I eventually cancelled. Didn't think it would be a good idea driving alone with Mika at night in the rain. Since we needed to stock up on beer for dinner at home, Bien took us to the Korean market so that we could grab some seaweed for Mikayli at the same time. After dinner, Bien went out. Mikayli slept while I scoured the satellite for Titanic. Lucky old me, I found just what I was looking for and cried my heart out once again for Jack and Rose.

Saturday 15th: Mikayli and I slept in while Bien went out to buy us breakfast. He had meant to get us Chao but the wait was too long so he brought home Pho Ga instead. We did some cleaning and lounged around most of the morning. In the afternoon, we dropped off some packages at the Post Office and bought Mika a Graco toddler carseat from Walmart. Bien installed it on the spot and Mikayli didn't take too long to inform us of her discomfort with the seat. It was one of those kinds that have a bar that comes down over the child, she dispised that thing. In the evening, we dropped by Anh Tung and Chi Duyen's house for Ryder's 1st birthday party. Mikayli was able to see bunny rabbits for the first time ever today. They were one of Ryder's birthday present. She was hesitant at first but you could tell she loved petting them. It's always freezing at their house since they live closer to the beach. It was their that Mikayli's nose started running. We were only there for about an hour, left just when Mika's sneezes proved that she was catching a cold.

Sunday 16th: HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! Thank you Jesus, for your sacrifice, we shall always be appreciative of your love. This was Mika's 2nd Easter. I remember last year, she was about a month old and we weren't allowed to venture outside (viet superstitions). Bien had to attend mass without us while I laid in bed, appreciating God's gift to us while I gazed at our sleeping daughter's face. We opted not to host an easter egg hunt this year and wait until Mika is a bit older and there are more kids in our lives to enjoy it. Instead, we took pictures of us in the front lawn, minus the Easter props.

I was too excited about Cirque du Soleil today that I barely had a wink of sleep last night. Also, this was the morning that I felt the beginnings of a bad cold. Grrr...Mika and I have the same immune systems. We bought these Cirque tickets as a birthday gift to Binnie, who had never heard of it before. Bien and I had been to one show prior to this one, called Varekai at OC Fairgrounds several years back. We were so astonished with the performances that Bien insisted that we try to see all their shows. As for Annie and Eric, she had never been but it seems he's seen all of their shows. We started off our morning with Easter mass. It was crazy, the church was busting at the seams with people. After mass, we picked up Chi Minh for breakfast at Binh Minh where I shared a Bun Rieu with Mikayli. By the time we were done, I had a sinking feeling we weren't going to make it to the Cirque show in time. We had to drop off Chi Minh at home, change Mikayli's diapers and wait for Bien and Binnie to get out restroom before we headed towards Long Beach. We arrived about 15 minutes late, just when the second act was halfway done. We were so thankful for those people who moved over in their seats so that we could sit next to Annie and Eric. I especially loved the Statue performance. It was performed by a totally ripped male and female, who balanced themselves with each other's strength.

Upon our arrival, we noticed a whole bunch of people coming out of their cars with luggages and came to the conclusion that this was where our cruise was going to board. Yay, only another month and a half till our fun in the sun! After the show, Anton invited us to join him with Tracey and Tony for lunch at Com Tam Thanh.

Monday 17th: Annie stopped by for assistance with installing her baby's carseat since Eric had such a dificult time doing it himself. Afterwards, we lunched at Souplantation and picked up Alice to join us at Walmart. I exchanged that toddler carseat that Mika hated for a Safety1st one. Annie found herself some baby essentials while Alice bought some doggy food.

Tuesday 18th: Souplantation again today, this time for dinner, with Bickie and Alice. It was my 3rd time ever and I just love it, thanks Kimmie for introducing me to it. The only time I can go there is if I team up with one of my friends because Bien doesn't think soup and salad is ideal for filling up.

Wednesday 19th: Mika is still coughing, especially everytime she falls asleep, causing her to vomit due to the loogies. I haven't had a good night's sleep for the past two evenings, hopefully her cold will let up soon. I was in desperate need for a boost of energy and found myself consuming a tall cup of iced coffee from Starbuck's. It had been more than 2 years since I've had caffeine so I was completely wired throughout the day. Thuy set aside some time out of her vacation for us and we met up at Cheesecake Factory for a late lunch. Her daughter, Megan, was turning 5 at the end of this month and this was the first time I had ever met her. She was just so adorable, a replica of her Daddy. Unfortunately, Mikayli fell just when Megan's mood came to and we ended up calling it a day. Hopefully we can meet up once more before Thuy returns to Michigan this Wednesday, gotta take more pictures! Also, check out Mika in her new carseat. I installed it forward-facing yesterday, resulting in a much happier baby.

3rd haircut, Alcatraz, Mika's 1st word, Palm Sunday, OC Marketplace, Updated pics, Toddling, Ah and other accomplishments
Mood:  celebratory
Yay! Mikayli's progress on toddling has been honed to a skill, she has stopped tippy-toeing and now balances herself for longer periods of time. As of a week or so ago, Mikayli learned how to "ah". She doesn't know how to do it with her arms crossed over her chest yet but she pretty much has the basics down. She would point to whatever she wanted to eat and I would give it to her under the condition that she gave me an "ah". Mikayli would actually bend her head/body forward and say "ah" in the smallest yet distinct tone, so impossibly adorable. Her Ba Noi also recently taught her how to tap her chest whenever she asked, "Vang dau"? That's our little gold nugget for you. Also, when you ask her, "Thuong Mommy de dau?" She would tap her head and heart, that was where she placed her love for me. Awww...ain't she the sweetest?

Wednesday 5th: Mikayli had her third haircut. You know how she has these scattered bits of long hair in the back? Well, I trimmed it up while she was eating shrimp chips and watching TV. Now all of the hairs on her head is evened out, a much cleaner cut. Bien barely had hair when he was young. Poor thing, she's got her Daddy's genes.

Friday 7th: Mikayli ironically took her nap right when her Daddy wanted to go out for lunch. I didn't want to disturb her nap and opted to stay back while they all went to Seafood Cove again. I hate to say this, but I'm getting sick of going there now. I barely touched the doggy bag that they brought back.

Saturday 8th: Bien went to work again while I stayed home, juggling chores with Mikayli in tow. I skipped breakfast and had a small bowl of cereal for lunch. When Bien arrived home, I suggested we go out and get some good ol' steak for dinner to satisfy my hunger. Since I had a few items from Old Navy to exchange, I said it would be convenient if we ate at Wolfgang Puck's inside The Block. Much to my surprise, we found out the restaurant was closed and ended up at Alcatraz Brewing Company. I had been there for drinks before, lounging in the courtyard, but never had a chance to go inside. The restaurant was decorated so nicely that it gave me the most uncommon urge to visit San Francisco. Unfortunately the food there was as I had expected, if not less. The flavors on our dish were all too common, if we do ever come back, it'll only be as a last resort.

It's official, Mikayli knows how to say "daddy". Back then, she would use a higher tone that was close to a whisper whenever she said it. It confused us on whether it was true or a figment of our hopeful imagination. But today, her Uncle Bao heard her saying "daddy" in a clear tone while I was walking her beside me to look for her Dad. Funny thing was, I was too focused on keeping her upright that I didn't notice her calling out for him. :) At night, the boys enjoyed their Poker game and went out for a round of drinks thereafter. Mikayli and I stayed in and watched my all time fave movie, Titanic, on satellite. I don't know how many times I've seen it but it never fails to make me cry my heart out. My tears always start when Rose tells Jack that she loves him and he tells her not to say her goodbyes. By the time Rose discovers Jack's death, I'm clutching at my heart in hysterics. Boo-hoo!

Sunday 9th: PALM SUNDAY Take a look at what Chi Minh made for Mikayli from the palm leaves from church, it's a headress. I made the cross that she's holding, doesn't she look like she resides in the jungle?

For breakfast, we ate at Pho 86, thanks Anh Long for the treat. We occupied our afternoon with Chi Minh at the OC Marketplace, for 3.5 hours. I found myself a 20" carry-on wheeled luggage for $15, perfect for our cruise this summer. It can hold mine and Mikayli's essentials, including my 17" laptop without being too big for carry-on limitations. I also bought some hats, a headband and a ton of fresh fruit. Bien managed to find a thinner wallet and Mikayli got a gun that shoots bubbles.

On our way back home, Chi Minh suggested to stop into WingNuts for lunch. While they munched on chicken wings, Mikayli and I shared our Strawberry Shaved Ice with Boba from Boba Smoothie. Nothing better than fresh fruit on ice.

Below are some pictures I posted over the weekend.

Happy Birthday...to everyone
Mood:  celebratory
This was a weekend full of birthdays for us. Don't be surprised if I start slashing you all off of my list of people I know.

Friday 31st: HAPPY 23rd BIRTHDAY TINA & TOMMY! Hope you guys had fun celebrating it C-ville style. I spent my morning with Mikayli at Toys R Us. I bought birthday presents for Khang and Baby Austin while Mikayli occupied herself with the toys.

For lunch, we went to Seafood Cove with the boys. This'll be ongoing until Lent is over with. Bien worked late into the evening and decided on meeting us for dinner at Kyotori with Anton, Tweety and Alice. Superb, as always!

Saturday 1st: HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY KHANG! Sorry we couldn't make it to your party but we hope you enjoyed your gift. Bien worked again today so I spent most of my morning cleaning and doing errands. Phungus and Nancy later stopped by and we all ended up at The Block. I ended up buying a whole bunch of tank tops for myself and a summer outfit for Mikayli at Old Navy. It's so much easier to spend money when you're bored. At night, I spent several hours showing Phungus how to knit. I'm still a beginner, the last time I knitted something was Mikayli's blanket before she was born. It's still a work in progress because I ran out of yarn and got too busy since Mikayli's arrival.

Sunday 2nd: HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY BABY AUSTIN! We started our morning off with breakfast at Bun Bo Hue So 1, thanks Chi Minh and Anh Long for the treat. I wanted to save my stomach for the two birthday parties we were attending today so I only had che`. Mikayli and I went to Austin's birthday party at Mile Square Park. We ended up being two hours late because Mikayli ironically decided to postpone her nap, until the party started that is. At the party, we semi-stuffed ourselves with fried rice, goi, eggrolls, BBQ and cake. The day looked pretty but we were confined to our jackets the whole time due to the cold winds.

Binnie's birthday party was celebrated today at D&B's. We stuffed the rest of our bellies with mini burgers, popcorn shrimp, fries, dry chicken wings, chicken quesidilla, and buffalo wings. I accompanied it all with a dry martini, Bien's was a Hennessey and Coke, Mika's was whole milk. Once Bien was lit, I asked him to win something for Mikayli and soon regretted it. He found one game in particular, Wheel of Fortune, and glued himself to it for 30 minutes. At least something good came out of the wait, 3500 redemption tickets. Yippee! By the time we were in line for the prizes, my heartburn crept up on me. I told Bien to remind me to never do two parties in one day. He answered it with a full cup of Hennessey and Coke and I was cured within seconds. Afterwards, dinner was joined by Anton, Cong, Bickie and Danh. I, myself, was too stuffed to join them.

Monday 3rd: HAPPY 22nd BIRTHDAY TRUCKIE and HAPPY 13th BIRTHDAY BINNIE!
