Ozone Falls / Black Mountain Trip
Ozone Falls / Black Mountain Trip
Lee and I made a trip to Ozone Falls and Grant and I made a second trip in August. Ozone is about 15 minutes from where I work. It is very beautiful. I did some research on the web about a local rumor and found out it was true: "While the sandstone amphitheater behind the waterfall makes it unusual, it carries another kind of fame: Its location was the site for filming Disney's version of Rudyard Kipling's "Jungle Book" in 1992."The web article went on to say: "There are no railings where the falls make their drop, and when locals found out where we were headed, every one of them stressed that there have been several falling deaths in the past few years. So it should go without saying that this is not a good area to take young children. And adults should use caution above the falls and choose their steps carefully along the steep trail to the base of the falls and beyond. If you watch what you're doing, you've got nothing to worry about except making sure you get a chance to feel the spray of Ozone Falls." I made sure not to bring the dogs on the topside of the waterfall. Lee and I and later Grant and I went to Black Mountain which is also near my work. I still need to post some pics from the view on the overlook at Black Mountain.
