The Mountain lion is a large, predatory cat with
a wide range, it is found coast to coast in forested
areas, rocky canyons and mountains, and even deserts.
Male cougars are about 9 feet long including the tail and
weigh up to 200 pounds, females weigh about 15 percent
less than their male counterpart. Cougars are primarily
nocturnal (active at night) but on occasions hunt during
the day. To escape enemies a cougar can jump 15 feet
in the air and 60 feet down without injury. The cougars
primary food source is deer ( they eat up to 8 pounds
per day) but cougars have also been known to attack
moose, elk, and even humans.
