Patsy believes that Thomas and Mary are shown in the 1880 census as living in Mahoning-Carbon, Pennsylvania. This is pretty speculative, as they are listed as "Purden" (although that in and of itself doesn't discredit the record, as William Peardon had his name misspelled on one census) and their ages are reversed--with her being older than him by two years. She is also listed as having been born in NJ. To me that's a lot of information to get messed up, even for a census taker at this time (although no one could seem to get William's birth year correct, they do at least always show him as being older than his wife by 5 years). It is certainly something to explore, as is figuring out where they where in 1870.
