Grey, a very common color in horses, is usually a mixture of white and dark hairs growing out of a dark skin. But it is a rare foal born with distinct and recognizable grey. Most grey foals are born a solid base color, but within weeks will show signs of grey around the eyes and flanks. There are many differnt shades of grey, varying from almost white to a dark dappled color.
