Buttermilk Pound Cake

CAKE INGREDIENTS:

4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 sticks of butter (not margarine)
1 tablespoon lemon flavor extract
1 tablespoon orange flavor extract
3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup buttermilk

ICING INGREDIENTS:

2 1/2 cups powder sugar (sifted)
5 tablespoons orange juice (pulp free)
5 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon orange flavor extract
1 tablespoon lemon flavor extract
dash of salt

ICING PREPARATION:

Mix all ingredients together and let stand while cake bakes.

CAKE PREPARATION:

Cream together sugar, eggs, and butter. Add in lemon and orange flavor extract. Add dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder) and then add buttermilk. Pour into ungreased bunt cake pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and pour Icing over cake and bake another 5 minutes.

TIP:

Let Butter soften at room temperature beforehand.
