Main Street in Oneida, Tennessee of long ago. When I was a child in the 50's and early 60's, Main Street was the place to go shopping in Oneida. It was the busiest part of town. My parents would usually go to Oneida on a Saturday. We children looked forward to the trip. We lived in the West Robbins community in the southern part of the county and Oneida was in the northern part of the county. We bought everything we needed in Oneida. You would usually see many people in Oneida shopping that you had not seen in quite awhile. We would be gone the biggest part of the day and made it home around supper time. Yes, to us children, a trip to Oneida was an exciting trip!

I found this and other pictures packed in a box handed down to me by my mother Etta (Willoughby) Gibson. I think they may have been part of a calendar at one time. She probably cut them out to keep as memories of Scott County. She had written down the location of the picture on the back of each photograph. I would like to give credit for those responsible for these great photographs of Scott County's past and to say "thank you". I hope you will enjoy viewing these cut out photographs.
