Homemade Soap

INGREDIENTS:

3 cans lye
3 qt. rain water
2 gal. clean grease
2 Tbsp.Borax
2 Tsp. sal soda
2 Tbsp. Sugar
1/2 c. Ammonia

DIRECTIONS:

Mix lye with the rain water and cool to lukewarm (this will take 4 to 6 hrs.)
Dissolve Borax, sal soda and sugar in ammonia, then add to lukewarm lye water.
Slowly pour clean grease, heated to lukewarm, into lye water mixture, stirring constantly until thick.
Spread into shallow pans and when set, cut into desired squares.
Tallow (beef grease) added to grease will make the white soap.

NUMBER OF SERVINGS:

Will clean many, many people!!!

PREPARATION TIME:

A very, very long time!!!
