We are a no-kill, non-profit humane organization dedicated to rescuing the sick, injured, abused, abandoned and neglected animals of Fayette County.

Make a Difference… Volunteer!

We had a great event at Funquest on 07/29/06 thanks to all our wonderful volunteers. Christy did an outstanding job at coordinating the event and the outpouring of help from our volunteers from planning to advertising to baking to manning the event was tremendous. We found homes for 2 dogs and raised over $1,000. Great work everyone!

We have continued to receive donations from the community and are now 'out of the hole' that we were in a few weeks ago. We still have a lot of work ahead of us to continue to keep our shelter financially solvent but we are all excited about what the future holds for the organization.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR ADOPTION DAY THIS SATURDAY! It is at Petsmart, setup is at 9am, event runs from 10am - 4pm.

Donation Containers
Jessica has been nice enough to purchase and put together some of those donation tubes that we can put out in businesses in the local community to raise much needed funds for the shelter. If you have any contacts with any businesses that would let us put our donation containers in their store please send me the company name, address and contact information. And a huge thank you to Jessica for doing these for us!

Also, Christy is decorating some new donation containers for us as well that we can use for our events. If you have any large containers such as coffee cans, dog treat cans, etc. that she could decorate and would work well to put out on the tables and cages for people to put donations into, please bring them to the shelter or to one of our events. And a big thanks to Christy for taking the time to decorate these containers for us!

Wednesday & Thursday
I'll be at the shelter this Wednesday and Thursday night but will discontinue the evenings while it is so hot. Right now it is just miserable for the volunteers and animals alike to be outside even in the evening and there just isn't enough room for us to do things inside the shelter while the employees are working. If you plan on coming out to the shelter Wednesday or Thursday this week please let me know.

Shelter Secretary
Thank you Judy, Julie & the Hoff Family for staffing the shelter in the afternoons for us the past few weeks. You have no idea how much it helps having regular volunteers that we can rely on that can help with all those tasks that need to be done to run the shelter.

If you can help, we still need additional volunteers from 12pm-4pm to answer phones, process paperwork and perform various clerical and miscellaneous tasks. If you are available and can commit to at least one day per week please let me know.

If you are interested in volunteering please email Laurie at fayettefcar@hotmail.com.

Our Rescues

New Arrivals

**We are still busting to the seams full and are not taking any new animals unless they are from cruelty cases. **

Adoptions

Sandy was adopted after being at our shelter for 4 years! She was taken into the wonderful foster home at Bonnie's house and she once again worked miracles for us. Sandy is on allergy shots which can sometimes make the animals hard to adopt out but Sandy's new mom is a nurse so it was no problem at all. The following is feedback from her new mom: "

She is doing great, SO SWEET, was a little scared of her new dad at first, but not any longer, now she snuggles up to him to get belly rubs, plays very well with the other dog, great with the grandchildren, seems really happy to be with them, they go for walks in the morning and at night when it's not too hot, then always takes an afternoon nap, gets along great with the cats, gave her the allergy shot today and Sandy didn't whimper or have a problem with it, They have been discussing Halloween costumes and decided she will be "Lady Dracula". She plans on bringing her to visit us at Petsmart.

Noah was adopted at the Funquest event as well. He is doing great and has been renamed Sammy.

The wonderful Curry family adopted Robby (kitten) last week. They are already the  terrific owners of our wonderful rescues Granger and Laverne and have added Robby to their loving household.

Two of Slinky's kittens (Nugget & Felix) were adopted by a nice man last week. He wanted to adopt 2 kittens at once so that they would have someone to play with.

Another of Slinky's kittens was adopted today (only 1 left!)

Fostering

We had a few dogs start coughing last week so we kept most of the dogs at the shelter to be on the safe side.  Everything is looking good so we can release the animals back into foster homes.

Calling all foster parents! Please let me know which fosters you would like and when / where you would like to pick them up. I'll be at the shelter Wednesday & Thursday night this week or you can pick them up after adoption day at Petsmart Saturday. If you need to have them dropped off let me know and I'll get it done...thanks!
