Make a Difference… Volunteer!
Another good
weekend for us for adoptions with 6 animals finding new homes!
We have actually had a good number of adoptions recently but
sometimes it is like swimming upstream. As you read in the
letter sent out yesterday, we are very short of money but we are
continuing full steam ahead to take care of our babies and find
a way to continue to operate. Below is a breakdown of the
animals currently at FCAR:

3 Day Petsmart Weekend
We
currently have a TON of kittens and puppies but hopefully
we'll have a great weekend with a lot of adoptions. We have
another 3 day weekend at Petsmart, Friday - Sunday this
weekend. We really need a lot more volunteers for this
weekend so if you can help please let me know. We could
use 2-3 more volunteers for Saturday and 3-4 more volunteers
for Sunday. Partial shifts are just fine... you pick the
hours. Also, if someone could drive the van Sunday
from the shelter to Petsmart (9am) and back (4pm) then I can
take an additional 5 animals in my car. Otherwise I'll have
to drive the van and just take less animals for adoption.
Basically we need lots of help this weekend so anything you
can do to assist is appreciated. We are desperately trying
to place these babies in homes for their sake and to reduce
the burden on our limited shelter resources.
Wednesday &
Thursday
Don't forget that we've expanded our shelter nights to
Wednesday AND Thursday from 530pm-830pm. Please let me
know ahead of time if you can make it. We have over 20 animals
on the schedule to take to adoption this weekend and would like
to get as many of them bathed as possible. And thank you to all
of those that came out last week. Wednesday night we had people
playing with every single friendly dog at the shelter, some of
which hadn't been played with for a very long time and just ate
up the attention. Your time makes such a difference - a short
walk, throwing a ball or sitting in the grass rubbing bellies.
This week it is expected to be very hot so we'll limit the
playing to the smaller yards and do more leash walking and
sitting in the shade just loving on the babies. If you have
time, please come and join us... And thank you Cheryl for coming
out Thursday and helping me organize the shelter. It's one of
those things that always needs doing and we sure appreciated
your willingness to spend your evening helping.
NOTE: My
beautiful 9 year old triplet nieces will be visiting from
California next week so there will NOT be shelter work nights
next week (07/26 or 07/27).
Web Updates
We list all of our pets on Petfinder.com for viewing by the
public. There is also another website Pets911.com that has similar search functions to view listings
of animals available for adoption. We need someone to update
this search site using instructions that I'll
provide along with the information we have already posted on Petfinder.com. This needs to be done on a weekly basis. The
initial setup would probably take a few hours but could be done
over time. After that it would probably take about 1 hour per
week to keep it updated. If you are interested in
helping let me know. You can do this from home and just need
Internet access.
Painting
We're trying to get some paint donated to paint the massive
new dog house, existing shelter & new building. If you have any
contacts for paint or painting supplies that we might be able to
get donated please let me know. Once we have the supplies I'll
let you all know when the "Painting Party" is going to be.
Shelter
Secretary
Thank you Judy, Julie & the Hoff Family for staffing the
shelter in the afternoons for us the past couple of weeks. You
have no idea how much it helps having regular volunteers that we
can rely on that can help with all those tasks that need to be
done to run the shelter.
If you can help, we still need additional volunteers from
12pm-4pm Wednesday and Thursdays and for fill in to answer phones, process paperwork and
perform various clerical and miscellaneous tasks. If you
are available and can commit to at least one day per week please
let me know.
If you are
interested in volunteering please email Laurie at
fayettefcar@hotmail.com.
Our Rescues
New Arrivals
Eloise was rescued during a cruelty
investigation. She is a black & white border collie mix that was
abandoned by her owners when they moved.
**We are still busting to the seams
full and are not taking any new animals unless they are from
cruelty cases. **
Adoptions
Robby (kitten), Black Jack (Ms.
Piggy's pup), Jake (big black lab - one of Natalie's babies),
and Catarina, Sweetheart & Gulliver (all australian shep
puppies) were adopted Saturday.
