Make a Difference… Volunteer!
We remain very,
very full and our funds and space are completely stretched to the
limits. If ever there was a time where we needed every single one
of our volunteers to come through it is now. Please, be generous
and help the animals at the shelter in whatever means you are
able. We are trying to put together additional adoption days to
get the animals in forever homes and fundraisers to raise money to
pay our vet bill which has been more than double the usual amount
the last 2 months.
Also, if you have
any of the following items or if you can do some type of
collection project with family, friends or co-workers we are in
desperate need for the following items:
Garage Sale
We raised about $600 at the garage sale last weekend. Thanks
to everyone that donated things and volunteered! We will be having
another one the first weekend in October so starting saving your
stuff!
Wednesday
Nights - Fun & Fur at the Shelter!
We decided to get together every Wednesday night from 5pm (or
whenever you can get there) til 8pm to take care of the million
tasks that need to be done at the shelter. Bathing, socializing,
paperwork, pictures, etc. It is one evening a week and it makes
a big difference in keeping the shelter running smoothly. If you
can join us just send Laurie an email and be ready to have some
fun! I know it's short notice but we'll be out there tonight if
you can help.
3 Day Petsmart
Adoption Event
In an effort to find forever homes for more of our rescues
we will be holding a 3 day Adoption Event at Petsmart on
06/23-06/24. We would like to hold a 3 day event at least once a
month and we can only do so if we have enough volunteers. The
times are as follows:
-
Friday, 2pm-7pm
-
Saturday, 9am-4pm
-
Sunday, 9am-4pm
If you are
interested in volunteering please email Laurie at
fayettefcar@hotmail.com.
Our Rescues
New Arrivals
Ruby (1 year old) and 13 more
Australian Shepherd mix puppies were seized in a cruelty call.
They are gorgeous but have serious skin issues and are being
bathed weekly thanks to our volunteers and are already looking
better.
We just had 2 separate boxes of
kittens left on the doorstep of the vet. Three are very young and
very sick. Momma and 7 more are healthy and a gorgeous white/tan
color, all seven of which look identical!
Leroy, Kiki and Geisha were seized in
another animal cruelty case. They were deathly thin and very near
death... we are preparing to press charges against their owner.
Burnice, a yellow lab mix was seized
in a cruelty call with apparently some type of chemical burns
covering much of her body.
Boswell, a 5 week old dachsund mix
(and adorable) was rescued when the owner put too much flea
treatment on him and he had seizures. They took him to the vet and
were going to put him to sleep but agreed to release him to FCAR.
He was only 6lbs. and is now doing fine.
Adoptions
We
had a fabulous weekend... 6 Adoptions! Boswell, Tundra,
Gilbert, Chenille, Esamerelda and Ellie all went to new homes!
