We are a no-kill, non-profit humane organization dedicated to rescuing the sick, injured, abused, abandoned and neglected animals of Fayette County.

Make a Difference… Volunteer!

Things have been busy as ever at the shelter and we are very, very full. Unfortunately cruelty calls seem to be on the rise, but thankfully we have been able to make a difference in our community and rescue many animals from deplorable situations. Yvette & Gina rescued a dog this morning with chemical burns and picked up 13 puppies and an adult dog with mange, some of which may also be blind. In addition, the following adopted animals have all come back in the last week or two:  Chenille (unsuitable home), WW (kept getting out), Tundra (family moving), Electra (family situation), Kermit, and Genie & Gibson (not being taken care of).  Although this large of an increase in the shelter population will stretch our resources to the limit, with your support and willingness to volunteer we can ensure that all of these animals receive the care they need while we look for their forever home.

Friday, 05/26/06 1pm
Christy and I are planning on spending this Friday afternoon, 05/26 at the shelter bathing the new puppies, taking pictures, and working on a million other things that need to be done. If you are interested in joining us please let me know. We'll be there at 1pm til whenever we get tired...

With adoptions every weekend I can't schedule any shelter work or play days but I'd be willing to go to the shelter one night a week to work / play. It stays light til 830pm so we'd get a couple hours in. If you are interested let me know what day of the week works for you and I'll get something scheduled.

Garage Sale Benefiting the Animals at FCAR!
We had to postpone our garage sale due to a lack of volunteers. It is re-scheduled for June 3rd at 3814 N. Swan Ridge Cove from 8am-2pm. If you can help for a few hours please let me know... with the large number of new animals the needed funds that we hope to raise are very much needed.

If you have items that you can donate please bring them to one of the following drop off locations by Friday, 06/02/06 (please call ahead):

  • FCAR Shelter
595 Clement Drive, Rossville, TN  38066

Our Rescues

New Arrivals

Fleta & Belle were seized in a cruelty investigation and are currently being held until the court reviews the case.

Caitlyn, a very skinny beagle with heartworms, surrendered herself to us and is very sweet, albeit another spider woman (climbs fences).

Satellite, a beautiful male boxer is a new addition to the family.

Esmerelda, a year old calico was spayed this week and will be ready for adoption Saturday.

Adoptions
The following babies are currently all in new homes!

Two more of Ms. Piggy's puppies were placed in new homes: MarMar & Dreamy.

Margie (now called Maize) found the home of her dreams with Kristen, one of our volunteers. For those that don't know Margie, she was our first official spider woman, capable of climbing EVERYTHING in seconds. She is now safe and sound in Kristen's apartment!

Pokey, the young cat was adopted.

Pandora was adopted!! Pandora was the last of the Australian Shepherd litter that we had that was so scared. Luckily she was in an amazing foster home cared for by Bonnie & Sam and it made a life changing difference for her. Thanks to their hard work, patience and compassion Pandora now has a chance at a normal life in her own loving forever home. What a wonderful outcome!

Rio was adopted and is now a house dog. Rio was always very shy so she never went to adoption day but her new owner saw her at the shelter and was willing to give her a chance. Thanks to our foster mom Christy that was willing to 'test drive' her in the house, Rio is now spoiled in her new home.

Fostering

We have been deeply blessed lately to have some amazing foster families that have made a phenomenal difference in the lives of some of our rescues. Thank you all so much - for your time, patience, compassion and dedication to making the lives of our rescues so much brighter.

  • Bonnie & Sam - Pandora

  • Christy, Todd & Family - Josie, Rio, Electra, Dreamy, Chenille, Helen (Libbie), Napoleon, Amos, Margie, Warren plus more of Ms. Piggy's pups that I can't name!

  • Laurie, Greg & Family - Amaretto, Kahlua, Bourbon, Ollie, Phoebe, Candie

  • Yvette & David - Gumby, Starsky & Hutch

If you are interested in fostering, please let me know. All it requires on your part is love, a fenced in yard and transportation to the shelter for vet visits and adoption days. FCAR provides the food, crate, medical care, etc.  Although not for everyone, fostering can be one of the most rewarding things that you can offer of yourself. Call for more details.
