We are a no-kill, non-profit humane organization dedicated to rescuing the sick, injured, abused, abandoned and neglected animals of Fayette County.

Make a Difference… Volunteer!

I know it's been a while but wanted to catch everybody on up on what has been happening at FCAR so bear with me if this is a little long. First, our April 1st event at Cameron Brown Park was a wonderful success! We adopted out 6 animals (mostly long timers) and raised just under $2,000. Thank you thank you thank you to the volunteers that came out to help at the event. Your support and hard work is what made this event such a phenomenal success for us and we appreciate you more than words can say. A very special thanks to Gina, Christy, Jessica & Delores for the hours of pre-work that you put into planning the event.

Our next large event will be a special adoption day at Petsmart on May 6th. They are having the grand opening of their Pets Hotel and also are having a nationwide adoption day weekend with special advertising for the event.

Remember, we changed our regular monthly adoption day schedule to:

2nd Saturday of the Month - Petsmart
3rd Saturday of the Month - Petco Cordova
4th Saturday of the Month - Petsmart

The concrete slab has been poured for our new holding pen area along with walkways and a drain for the inside runs thanks to a grant from Petco. We also have a wonderful angel that is donating a large building that will allow us to expand our isolation are and cat/kitten area. What a wonderful surprise and what a difference it will make! A big thank you!

We also could use your help in naming new rescues. As you can imagine we have gone through most of the more common names and like to ensure that each of our animals has a unique name. If you have any suggestions for names starting with: E, F, I, K, N, O, P, Q, R, T, U, V please send them to me.

If you are interested in volunteering please email Laurie at fayettefcar@hotmail.com.

Our Rescues

New Arrivals

Parker, a healthy, male German Shepherd mix.

Pat and her three 8-day old baby beagle mix puppies

Abigail, Starsky, Hutch, Pokey, Chiquita and Gumby - all cats/kittens.

Cajun, black and tan coonhound.

I'm sure there are more but you get the idea... lots of new babies!

Adoptions
The following babies are currently all in new homes!

Winter, a dog that was adopted as a puppy was returned but then re-adopted immediately at our April 1st event. Feedback from new owners "absolutely wonderful, best dog ever except for his own, no accidents in the house since they adopted her, eating fine".

Napoleon, Mandy's brother, refused to eat or drink at his home. It was all a ploy to get his foster mom to keep him and it worked! Napoleon was adopted by our wonderful foster mom, Christy.

Laverne, a husky mix, was adopted by the family that previously adopted Granger. She is doing great. Her new mom wrote us "she is adjusting wonderfully to her new home.  She is such a wonderful girl!  Sweet as can be, wonderful manners inside the house, not quite as rambuncious as Granger, and absolutely wonderful with my 5 year old daughter.  She and Granger are settling in quite well.  They play and have a big ole time...especially when they think no one is watching.  Thanks once again for leading us to just the right addition
to our family."

Scotch, a black lab, was adopted! Scotch recently completed obedience training at Dogwoods and was adopted by first time dog owners. One of the daughters was taking primary responsibility for him and we recently heard that they are taking him for their complementary training class at Dogwoods on Saturday and he is doing great!

Clement, an 8 year old beagle, was adopted by a family full of kids. They were looking for a laid back dog that the kids could love on and they found the perfect dog at our April 1st event.

Jimmy, our australian shepherd mama, was adopted. Two of Ms. Piggy's puppies have been adopted. Amos was adopted. And probably lots more but as you can see, lots going on!
